As a matter of interest with approx 2100 car models on the scheme and over 800 with AP less than £500 why can’t some of you find the right car?

RhodgieToo small, too big, too dear, too uneconomical, not available in automatic, dont have necessary tech like cruise control, seating isn’t right, boot isn’t right size, seats don’t adjust suitably (I can’t use the winding wheel to tip seat backwards), too high, to low, need a 3 door to lift a wheelchair in and out, need a 5 door for family, need an estate for dogs or prams or Zimmer or wheelchair, need something that can tow…. etc etc etc

RhodgieAlso I want another EV but as a wheelchair user it needs to plug in at the front grill, the ONLY one that is available like that is the MG ZS EV which is a bit too high, and too dear ?

So there isn’t a car made that suits all your requirements, or is there?
March 4, 2020 at 5:13 pm #108479Smallcar, each of us has different needs, so pressing individual posters to respond to your question about a decision and thought process that can take a long time to get exactly right is not particularly helpful.
March 4, 2020 at 5:23 pm #108480OK, I was just interested. Of course everyone has different disabilities to be catered for which I completely understand. It’s things like mood lighting and look of the dashboard etc that I think we can all compromise on.
March 4, 2020 at 5:34 pm #108481Smallcar if only it was that simple lol.
Picking a car, tv, fridge freezer, cooker is difficult, why? Because even when we know what’s best for us choice comes into it. If there is no choice the decision is easy you get what’s there, but with over 2,000 cars in a multitude of colours trim etc it starts to get more difficult. Then you must decide, can I afford the AP, then you see the model above gives sooooo much more, and only for another £500 on the AP. Then I must pick a few models because you never know when a car will be removed from the scheme.
Its really quite difficult but we all get there in the end.

Anything i post over three lines long please assume it is an article lol.March 4, 2020 at 5:43 pm #108482
PhiljbIf you have no physical disabilities then you could make do with any car if needed, off the scheme my previous cars have had to be large, comfortable, automatic, 7 seated, with suv seat height, cars like that on the scheme are very limited or have expensive APs.
If we are lucky we can get discounts on top of already good APs but that is rare these days.March 4, 2020 at 7:07 pm #108491Needs and requirements aside at over £9000 (without AP) out the household purse why the hell shouldn’t we also not have a want and wish list.

RhodgieSmallcar sorry for the delay in replying, was working yesterday then out last night.
I was trying to show some of the reasons why cars under £500 (or over?) aren’t always suitable and some of the different combination that come into play when trying to pick a replacement car.
No I don’t think there is a car that suits all my requirements but some do come close. My current Nissan Leaf is close but I’d like more range and more tech (adaptive cruise, vented seats, bigger boot?) but it’s no longer available and its replacement isn’t as suitable (the transfer distance from wheelchair to drivers seat is further and lower). Others that would suit me are the Hyundai Kona or the Kia Niro but the electric models aren’t available yet ?
