Mm5I have a VW tiguan and I am getting a seat tarraco from a different dealer. Who is to decide that my car is in a good enough condition to receive the good condition bonus? Is it the vw dealer I got my car from or the seat dealer?
Thanks

The dealer you hand the car in to when you collect your new car.

FiestaRedHaving just changed manufacturers from Vauxhall to Toyota, in my case it was the Toyota dealership that viewed and made the GCB report back to Motability.

RichardwI was led to believe at last changeover in 2018 the dealer make the initial report but this can be corrected once the car has been collected by Motability.
September 6, 2021 at 12:22 pm #163588I can say that’s not the case now, Richardw, in practice. When we picked up our new car in July, while we were sitting at the salesman’s desk doing the handover formalities, an email from Motability arrived on my phone to say a cheque was on its way and it arrived 3 days later.
September 6, 2021 at 12:41 pm #163592I had the same experience as you Wigwam. It was a practically instant response from Motability while I was still completing the hand over.

Mm5My car is in a lot better condition than my previous. Just a bit nervous as the AP is high and the GCB would certainly help a lot. Thanks guys
September 6, 2021 at 1:47 pm #163598My recent experience was the same as Wigwam and Pops. We returned a VW for a BMW and the BMW dealer checked the car and we received an email from Motability before we had even driven off in the new car saying that the GCB was approved and the money arrived in our account a few days later.
As long as your car is tidy I wouldn’t worry. Some forum users have posted photos of cars with damage that is way more than ‘wear and tear’ and have still received their GCB, so the bar seems to be set quite low.
September 6, 2021 at 5:12 pm #163603I’ve already had the GCB and I still have the car. My 3 year lease was up last September and they paid £600 in to my account without seeing the car last October. I’ve had a new car on order since early March but I’m still waiting for it to be completed before I can collect it.

Ian PriceThe dealer who I am collecting my new car from says he has to send photos of the cars where there is some damage. Dents/scratches. He then has to decide if it is fair wear and tear and say so in his report. The last car I returned. They just submitted just a report. No photos where taken. Really need the good condition bonus to help with AP.

PaulEvery service for my volvo ,(4 in total over 5year) my dealer as sent photos of the vehicles condition to motorbility. Not sure if its common across the scheme or not.Suppose it may cover the dealer as well,as i have heard of some customers, who have complained of damage done whilst getting service/mot.
September 6, 2021 at 6:50 pm #163607Over the years I’ve always reported any damage to Motability as it occured – mostly trolley dents while parked. Then there’s no surprises when the car goes back. Fair wear and tear includes minor paintwork damage, bumper scuffs and wheel rim scars, so there’s no reason to be concerned about them. I was told by a dealer that up to three areas of other damage may be allowed.

Mm5I have boot bumper scuffs, 1 tiny dent on driver door, few scratches, none deep and 1 small alloy scar. The car is black so you can see them so clear in the sun. So annoying
September 6, 2021 at 11:42 pm #163625That’s not going to be a problem, Mm5. It’s what most cars get in 3 years use, no matter how much we try to look after them.
