What efficiency should you expect from your EV

We chose a Hyundai Ioniq 6 as our next motability car and was wondering what a decent efficiency should be. I had driven about 80 miles, mostly local driving with a bit of motorway thrown in and was getting 4.3 miles per kwh. I’ve now been on a longer journey, about 80 miles, and I’m getting 4.1 mpkwh. Looking on line this appears decent and conditions just now are perfect it will be interesting to see the drop off in the winter.

So EV drivers what are you getting and what did you expect?

You all forget it was in Europe.  In the UK it will cost 50% more. Plus add the charging times (several hours in total), which cost extra coffee etc. Plus add the monthly fees for other providers if you cannot find IONITY in your area (only in Prague or Pilzn, for example.  So we used granny’s one).

I am sorry but none will convince me that if you cannot charge at home from the wall box you’re still better off with BEV. Especially as your time costs money.

Pretty sure no one ever tried.

          Current: Hyundai Ioniq 6 Ultimate
          Next: we'll see what's available in 2028.

About having EV in a city? I agree. None couldn’t care less about EV in London or Birmingham.

Not to say EVs are heavier hence quicker resurfacing to the already terrible roads requires. When the EV is on fire the firemen don’t even use the extinguisher – let it fully burn down,  as they have no ability to (I was surprised to learn about it a couple of years ago, when I had an aid course with them).

So no, the majority will not benefit from the EV. Nore the taxpayer.

Broke the 300 miles for a full charge yesterday. 3.7mpkw. I’ll never get 4 or more so really happy.
