            Thought they had the Aisin box?

            The 8 speed in the BMW/Peugeot is sublime.

                I have the XC40 T4 auto and it’s very smooth. On a cold engine there’s a slight hesitancy when changing up at low speeds but once you’re up and running, the changes are imperceptible.

                Yes it’s the 8 speed box used by BMW and Peugeot Citroen, but different to the Renault one I think

                Love the car overall, one of the best we’ve ever had.

                  @Vinalspin is spot on.
                  The XC40 has the Aisin AW F8FXX series gearbox which is the same as the X1 and many others.
                  It’s one of the best out there.
                  I’ve read the same reviews and cannot understand them to be honest. I have an X1 at the moment and it’s amazing. I can’t wait to get my XC40.
                  As with any auto, there can be a lag from standstill, although CVT gearboxes (not XC40) can be notorious for this.
                  With different manufacturers having different set-ups from the ‘box to the rest of the drivetrain, there can be differences in characteristics. To satisfy myself on this, I tested the Volvo a number of times on my test drive and didn’t notice anything to concern me.

                  ? I will be remembered for nothing but had great fun doing it ?

                    In the Citroen but different in the Renault.

                    I am not entirely sure but there is something to do with the programming in the volvo for the auto box that has a kind of protective shift from setting off to protect itself, I think it was because it’s a big heavy lump off the line and the didn’t want people to lunch the box/clutch giving it the beans away from the lights.

                    Might be able to have it altered once plugged in.
