We got Vodafone 500mb installed last week, first thing I did was change the wifi password to a strong one. I was checking the app today and noticed a Garmin device is connected. We don’t own a single Garmin product. Anyone know what this could be and do I need to change password again?

Disable WPS, make sure your using WPA2-PSK enctyption, then block access to the Garmin MAC address.

I just changed the password then added my iPhone and firestick and instantly there’s an unrecognised device connected. Very puzzling.

Disconect yout phone, then the firestick and see if the unrecognised device disapears, as some devices 2 seperate id’s for strange reasons.

Does the rogue device have an ip address?

It has a MAC address but not an ip address. It keeps appearing then disappearing, but this is different from the original rouge Garmin device. I’m thinking it must be something to do with the hub setup as it appeared instantly. Wondering if it’s the new box on the wall where the internet connection comes from.

The router has something called Compatibility Mode, it supposedly helps older devices connect to the router. It’s like a second wifi connection with its own password, I’ve switched it off and the device has gone.

At least you know it’s not nothing to worry about. Are you leaving it off, as I guess thats for really old stuff?

I think so, not seen it since. Most probably something innocent, especially when I saw it there the second I changed the password. I’m thinking it’s something trying to connect rather than actually connected.

Agreed, if you can only see the mac and not the ip.
