Under 25 insurance query

My dad’s car is coming up for renewal and I am the sole driver, I am over 25 and am able to get him any car of his preference. However my sister who is 22 years old got her license last year and she along with me will be driving him to places especially as she is now more readily available.

My question is – Are we still locked to having to get an under 25 vehicle for insurance purposes, or can we still get an over 25 one as I am the main driver and am over 25. I’ve read online that it is possible but cannot distinguish whether the main driver must be the actual person who the vehicle is for, ie – my dad or it could be myself.

There’s not many great choices for under 25’s. especially as my dad needs a high vehicle for his back.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

You will still have to get a vehicle for under 25s unless the rule has been changed in past couple of years.

The rule for under 25’s really needs to change as the choice of cars for them is diminishing rapidly especially automatics.

I am sure that it would default to the younger driver, so restricted to Under 25 rule. However do check with customer services just to be sure.

If you have an under 25 driver regardless if they are the main driver or not, you are restricted to a vehicle for under 25’s. I know as my son is a named driver and he is under 25.
