Under 25 Car recommendations

Hello everyone, hope you are all doing well.

We have a Hyundai Ioniq EV lease that is running out in June, and so it might be a bit too early to make this post as that is still a while away and the availability of Motability cars change quite regularly. But I thought it would be good to get a headstart in and help fellow lurkers (like myself) on this forum as there isn’t as much discussion about “under 25” cars.

As a family of six we are looking for a 5 or more seater car that is practical and fuel-efficient. Even though we don’t really end up all being in the car at the same time, it would still be nice to get a larger car for when we do.

In any case, due to young driver insurance premiums, it still makes economical sense to have a motability car alongside a private car like we have now (a VW Sharan).

Speaking about insurance, bonus question: Anyone know any insurers who accept Named Driver No Claims Discount (NDNCD), apart from Sainsbury’s I haven’t had much luck asking insurers or even Motability which surprised me.

      Thanks for reading!

You’d  struggle to meet yur needs in the under 25 section, with most being max 4 seater vehicles.

Hey Kezo, if you mean max 4 in a practical sense like full size adults then I get that, but I am currently seeing 43 cars with the +5 seat filter which of course is not a lot.

Hence why I jumped on the ioniq when we were first looking into scheme, since my dad said he wanted an electric that I could drive and I saw there was f*ck all to pick from under the 25 section with the ioniq being discontinued lol.

We might extend it if no other cars entice us, and I believe I read that a 2 year extension is no longer standard which is kind of annoying.

Edit: Also forgot to mention Motaclarity which seem to show a good number of cars but I don’t know how the scheme exactly works (i.e can dealers sell us cars not listed on the main Motability site? I believe so since I can find the “Toyota Proace City Verso Ev Family” on a dealer’s site ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ )

Dacia jogger could be a decent option for you.

5 seater but 4 full size adults comfortable.

As above the 1l Dacia Jogger, would be a good 7 seat option if you don’t mind manual, as the auto are over 25’s.

Cool, I don’t know if you guys noticed but there’s also the Combo e-life/e-Berlingo/e-Rifter/Proace City Verso which seem to be based on the same Stellantis van model. Apart from the lackluster range & charging time (which appears similar to our ioniq tbh) it seems like a decent option, just gotta figure out which one is the best out of them.

Also check out the Motaclarity link I included in my initial reply, there might be some decent 5 seaters (as long as it’s not smaller than the Ioniq it’s fine since it’s usually just two kids and a adult in the back max which feels reasonably comfortable).
