Culture Secretary Lucy Frazer says that the BBC pushing for a £15 tv license fee increase in April is not realistic. She said 400,000 people did not renew their licence fee last year so a £15 increase is not sustainable.
In January when our current license expires we are also joining the license fee exodus because the proposed £173.30 fee in our opinion no longer represents value for money.
Where does the license money go? well here’s a breakdown of where some of it went in 2022/23:
Gary Lineker’s BBC salary was £1.3m last year.
220 backroom staff at the BBC each earnt over £100,000 last year.
The highest earning executive in 2022/23 was Tim Davie, who earned £527,500.
£27,825,000 was spent on severance packages, with 124 staff receiving golden goodbyes worth over £100,000 each.
