I didn’t chose to tint my glass on x1 I am kind of regretting it how much was pack to have it done does anyone know also could I chose to get it done after delivery would motorbility allow that ?

Hi ya re sun protection glass as an option is

Just ask your dealership to add it and ask for discount on it. This is for the X1 Xline, A such there is no pack for it, rather just an option you can add.

Similar price on the XC40 we have on order, but we decided to have film fitted after delivery. Two reasons – £180 and the film keeps heat out which the factory tint doesn’t.

You can ask them. Shellie. In the past they have said as it’s removable it’s ok, but if you are asked at the end of the lease to remove it, you must.  I don’t know if that’s ever happened.

@wigwam The BMW privacy glass does keep the heat out wigwam

To some extent joss. We have factory privacy glass on our current X1, and it’s nowhere near as effective as the tint film we had on the previous car.

@wigwam Fair comment. On my last car, the Ford Focus, I had tints done professional. I think at that time it Cost £130.00. Thinking about it now I remember the guy telling me about the different qualities of the film they used. I seem to remember I had AC 75 So yes you are correct Wigwam

I have been reading about the different tint levels I need to look again as I was confused yesterday gonna look at some prices today thanks you your help

When I last got mine done, Shellie, I just asked for the same as the factory tint. Can’t recall what number it was. But they knew.

I discussed tinted windows when I ordered my X1 with my dealer and they recommended not to have factory tints but to go after market, it’s cheaper and better spec in most cases and it’s what they do for their own curtesy /demo cars.

As a guide, I just got a quote of £150 from a very good firm here to do the XC40 when it arrives.

Just do your research and see actual examples of the work, seen many aftermarket tints that looked like a dog’s breakfast.

Also don’t be shocked when they dismantle your car lol. When I had the Focus done both door cards where removed, along with rear trim panels. This to allow proper fitting of the film.

Yeah of course I will my car going into production on 9th August so hopefully very soon will have it waited since April it’s been a long wait that’s for sure

I have had most of my motability cars windows tinted limo back o the rears and although it is illegal to tint the driver and passenger front windows i had them done in smoke and touch wood never had any problems.
