Just wondering how long, typically, you test drive a car for before you buy?  Is it a quick ten minute round the block with the dealer alongside or maybe a couple of hours without the dealer?   I remember years ago, some car dealers would give you a full 24 hours with the car, or even a full weekend to thoroughly get to know the car inside and out.  Is this still the case?  Are some manufacturers more generous with the test drives they offer or is it more down to the specific dealers?  Your thoughts and experiences would be most welcome before we start the search for a new Motability car ourselves.

Vauxhall used to have the best test drive deal but I believe it’s ended now. You woukd phone their motability hotline tell them what you were after and they’d bring you the closest to what they had for 3 days and then pick it up afterwards.

Over the years the MiL had several 3 day loaners which were so handy being 30 miles from the dealers plus because you weren’t dealing with sakes there was never any pressure.
