I dropped my Renault Austral Iconic off at the dealer this morning. It’s gone in initially for the spark plug recall. The dealer this morning said their was a second recall for “… a major software update.”

Motability have provided a hire car – Nissan Qashqai. It feels really weird driving a normal i.e. non-hybrid petrol car (it’s not the ePower). No regenerative braking. It’s basic trim level and I miss the HUD. Also, I find the driver’s display garish. It’s like a Christmas tree! Overstimulating. At first I thought it was abnormally loud, until I remembered it was a normal petrol engine. I have become used to how very quiet the Austral is to drive.

I want my Austral back ASAP.

Current: MY24 Renault Austral Iconic FHD.

I feel your pain.  Where I got the Ioniq 5 from has a standard courtesy car of a Beyone, which is too low for me, so I got a Qashqai.  From 3 consecutive EVs it sounded like thunder, I needed to change gears for the first time in nearly a decade and the dash was far too busy.  Fortunately, mine had hud, so I could get away with not looking at the distraction but I couldn’t get mine back fast enough.

It’s very nice getting such great cars on the scheme but, once they need some work, the step down to either courtesy or hire cars is depressing.

Hopefully you’ll soon get the Austral back, although some dealers are claiming a “shortage of spark plugs”.

I’ve had my Austral since early September and have been really impressed but having read all the problems listed on the Facebook page, there’s always a niggling doubt in the back of my head.

We’ve had it since March and done over 3,000 miles without any problems. Very happy with it.
