SUVs with luggage covers not parcel shelves

I am looking for a large-ish SUV which has a luggage cover rather than a parcel shelf.

Reason being, my son (the DLA recipient) has a 4 wheeled Walker which doesn’t fold down as small as a wheelchair and so would mean removing the parcel shelf entirely when carrying the Walker. Not having any sort of luggage cover to keep things out of sight at other times feels like asking for trouble.

Reason for SUV is because he is more comfortable in the slightly more upright seating position (as compared with a normal car) as he has very limited flexibility in his hips and knees. We currently have a Golf Estate which is a great car but too small in the rear.

So far I’ve found the Outlander PHEV (which would suit based on our usual driving habits) but everything else I’ve looked at has a rigid parcel shelf – X1, Tiguan (probably too small but the All Space would be fine), Karoq(too smal), Kodiaq, Ateca (too small), Tarraco. Also don’t need 7 seats.

      Any others to consider?

Hyundai Tucson and Kia Sportage both have roll away tonneau covers, and I think they have areas under the boot floor where they can be stowed if you want them outta way altogether

Allspace, and the cover can be stored under the floor if required.

i had a citroen c4 grand piccasso and it had a pull out lugage space cover and you could remove it all together and store it under the boot floor. dont know if the current version has the same system.it was spring loaded like a blind.

My KIA Carens has the slide away covers however because of the hoist in the back it can’t be used and was just left laying around in the back when I picked the car up.

The cover does have a space for it to be stowed under the floor so I’m told but mine wasn’t and assumed its because of the fixing for the hoist that go below floor level.

For now though the rollaway cover is spending its first three years of life in my attic as I’m sure if its not in the car at the end of the lease I will lose my GCB.

My VW Touran has a sliding cover which can be removed and stored under the boot floor. The vehicle sits higher than a Golf estate and would probably meet your needs.

The following SUV’s also have roll away covers:

Renault Koleos, Nissan X-Trail, Honda CR-V, Ford Kuga, Peugeot 5008, Ssangyong Korando (new 2020 model).

In life, it's not who you know that's important, it's how your wife found out.

Have a look at the SEAT Tarraco.  Large boot with roll-away luggage cover that’s also easily removed when needed and has its own storage place under the boot floor flap.
