Some of us have waited for ages and we are no nearer seeing a BEV car. If they get cancelled what would you do? Hunt out another BEV, go Hybrid or revert back to petrol or diesel?
Are there any BEVs being delivered within a few (8) weeks or so?
PHEVs are kerching £££££
Not sure what I would do if VW cancelled. Would I get a Mokka Ultimate quickly??

It’s a hard question to really answer and many won’t want to hear it.
Does seem the BEV’S are having the longest waits. Is that to do with the crisis’s or lack of chips or more to do with the rare materials needed over an ice car.
One thing I am sure of this is more the new normal for them and they not going back to over supply as was the model before the crisis’s.
Their selling less cars, but making more profits. Some cars have risen by 26% in the last couple of years. That was before the energy crisis. So i see costs rising even more and that plays along to the agenda being pushed. Which Imo will ultimately lead to less cars on the road and more sharing, until driverless car’s arrive then we won’t be allowed to drive as ai will be safer than humans. although the elite will still do as they do now as money and costs isn’t a problem, they just suck more from us.
Many manufacturers are prioritising their higher ticket cars over the cheaper one’s and that clearly has an effect on the scheme and the average person.
Personally I went the hybrid way, as we don’t have off road parking and charging would be a huge issue and the added cost if you cannot charge at home is huge. I also after 11 years decided to leave the scheme as it was not as viable for me as it once was. That will vary for each person and their needs and requirements.
Especailly so as we move towards no more ice cars being made and i think forcing them to adopt that policy will be the biggest problem for many and is one of the many reason’s, I made my move off the scheme now.
Another was the wait, as the car we had became unsuitable as my wife is also having mobility issues and was hard for her to get in or out of the current car we had and to wait maybe a year and hope it would arrive was not feasible and we got the new car in 4 weeks of the scheme.

James cheerI honestly think VW will cancel our orders then we would have been waiting over a year for nothing, also looked at the mokka but the leads times on those are going up 8+ months from what ive seen so that’d be over 2 years wait by then which is a joke hoping some more bev come to the scheme for q4 but i very much doubt it
September 19, 2022 at 3:23 pm #196495I hope you all get your ID.3’s, however thd longer things drag on the more skeptical we become.
September 19, 2022 at 4:18 pm #196500also looked at the mokka but the leads times on those are going up 8+ months
Yes, it’s just amazing how long things are taking. I am sticking with my order as the choice on the scheme doesn’t fill me with confidence.
@Rox, sounds like you did the right thing for your needs. I have an old car in the garage which may have to be dragged out and put into use.@fwippers, I got a build week last month from VW, 50! We shall see.

James cheerYeah ill hold my order until it either arrives or gets cancelled but if something drops q4 like the megane ev or even the mg4 id consider changing my order

I would be tempted to swap if the car could be here in a month. BUT I think I will stick it out. MG4 looks good, I like the Megane as well but having seen the AP for the Nissan Ariya, I would not think they will be affordable either.

RichardPretty sure the MG4 wo t be hitting Motability anytime soon
My MG ZS is at dealer for a major fault & was talking to them about the 4They have over 40 people wanting test drives already they can only do 3 a day what with cleaning charging etc. If demand is that high before its even arrived I imagine it won’t go on the scheme they’ll continue selling & once sales drop off & they have stock sitting then it’ll go on. Remember they already pulled all the BEVs off the scheme. The dealer agrees with my thoughts that it’ll be another 12 months min on the MG4

Ldc7080I would have to stick with BEV. I’ve already had a home charger fitted

Yes, that’s the real kick in the guts. I have paid handsomely for a home charger (>£700) via Motability and I would really like to use it.

ldc7080i have the tour on order 20/09/21. my order is still at status 10 and i have had various build weeks communicated to me in the system. I did start to think it was going to happen this year as I had a build week 39 that morphed into week 42 but then sat there for some months. I spoke to the dealer last week thinking maybe this is it and my status would changed to confirmed order (status 20) given we were only a month away and low and behold my new build week is 49. getting hold of an ID3 is like chasing a rainbow
I work in the car industry and its my understanding VW shutdown early December for Christmas. maybe this year is different given the amount of orders in backlog. or maybe its a way for VW to try and build up some buffer of components that are obviously effecting the build process in plant. for me it will mean that i take the lease of my Honda civic into its 5th year and if VW were to cancel my order i would have spent the best part of 15 months for nothing and then faced with the possibility that i would not get a replacement car before the 5 year elapsed on my current vehicle.
September 21, 2022 at 1:49 pm #196649VW shutdown early December for Christmas.
Pretty sure they are not shutting down this Christmas as my Max is build week 50!!
I have looked at other BEVs on the scheme, but they all seem to be in the same boat. What is the real life shortest delivery time for a BEV and which one is it?

James cheerId probably say the ariya is probably the one youd get the quickest i cant imagine them getting many orders for those on motability if it was a more reasonably priced id have had one in a heart beat good looking car

RichardTrouble is lack of choice for BEV you’ve basically got Zoe, Corsa, Mokka, Leaf. Most of the choice just revolves around trim level & that’s it.
I have a ZS which has 470 litres boot space, it’s just enough to fit a boot scooter & some luggage in if I go smaller I’d be stuffed there’s NOTHING available same size or bigger on the scheme aside from a £2500 berlingo & that has some really crap choices on trim (no heated seats, no adaptive cruise control, satnav is now an optional extra on all models & more).
I’ve been told to look as my ZS has been in the shop for 3 weeks & they still don’t have a diagnosis so I’m really stuck unless things change 1st October I’ve been told I’ll be in a hire car until whatever I choose arrives which is crazy considering timescales & cost
September 21, 2022 at 8:20 pm #196673I see VW said the other day that they expect the chip shortage to last all through 2023…
