my gp sent me to our local leisure centre they pay for 12 weeks of exercise initially the only one really suitable for me was the chair based class as i cant go in a swimming pool (long story). then they offer a reduced rate 3 month membership after that its normal rates.
its an excellant thing and i was going well. recently they have opened a wellness hub using shapemaster machines https://www.shapemaster.co.uk/equipment/seated-equipment/ab-pullover/
theres about 12 of them and the machine does most of the work but importantly it keeps you in the right position and reduces the stress but exercises the muscles. the idea will be to use these machines to improve posture and strength and then progress on to hydrolic supported machines and then on to normal gym equipment. they are doing specific classes for ms, cancer recovery, cardiac recovery and arthiritis.
so far so good they are easy to use and no lycra required. have a look near you there maybe something near you. i can reccomend it. here in n derbyshire your gp can refer you for the initial 12 week free bit.
dont know if its available elsewhere.
