      Hi..
First time Motability recipient. We have chosen a car which was ordered end of August (Seat Leon Estate) was told should receive car by December. We have just been told today that it will not be BUILT until March 2020.

We are in need of this car for transport and this delay really puts us in a pickle.

Any advice with where to go from here?

Would you cancel order and choose again hoping for a quicker delivery time?

Are there particular makes of car that tend to be delivered quickly?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Mercedes at Huddersfield had great offers on cashback and had loads of stock vehicles when we got ours six weeks ago

Whole thing done in about one week

That’s a long wait, if you have another make or model in mind, ring around as many dealers as you can and ask about cancelled orders or stock available, if you find something suitable then cancel the seat.

you can cancel any time before you enter your PIN number on collection day, without any penalty.

The only thing you will lose, if the order has gone through, is any money already paid for optional extras.

We also had a bit of a delay on our Leon but that was mainly due to the engine being discontinued after the order was placed – did get the correct spec / engine in the end but was a bit up in air at one point.

SEAT seem to do fixed trim levels rather than offer lots of options, if your willing to comprise on colour for example then the “same car” may be available from dealer stock.

Failing that there is normally a pretty decent range of similar sized estate cars on the scheme so if your not able to wait then there a good chance something else suitable will be available.  Not sure on the current Advanced Payments but we previously had a Vauxhall Astra Sports Tourer in Elite trim and whilst not as “exciting” as the Leon was comfortable and very practical.
