I currently have the Volvo XC60 which is perfect for me but sadly is no longer on the scheme. I have a hoist and my scooter goes in whole without moving any seats. It has heated seats which move up and down and backwards and forwards electrically and a push button boot. Its also nice and high for me for ease of access. I want all these things in my new car. Does anyone know which car would be best for me?  I am gutted that I finally found the perfect car last time and they have stopped doing it!

If your current car totally meets your needs, have you thought of asking Motability for an extension of the lease to either 4 or 5 years.

Motability are pretty flexible on the ‘low mileage’ qualification and if you paid a large AP and the car fits your needs perfectly, they are often quite amenable to extending the lease.

The nearest thing to it on the scheme is likely to be the latest Honda Crx, but in reality the xc60 is a class above anything currently on the scheme.

The xc40 is a nice car but too small

The Vw Tiguan all space and seat equivalent doesn’t have remote closing tailgate It’s a push button on the tailgate close or foot waggle close only, unless you get the function code changed after market or leather seats as standard. but it does have  a bigger boot then the XC60.

after that it’s an mpv like the Ford galaxy or Vw sharran seat alhambra.

<p style=”text-align: left;”>I would agree that the Seat Tarraco sounds like the closest match with high ride position and large boot.</p>
However, Bigdave raises the best point. Speak to Motability first, especially if your xc60 has low mileage.

Fingers crossed for you Jill ??

Until the RRP price threshold is raised, nothing is likely to compare in size and quality to the XC60.

I keep looking for our first car on the scheme to replace our 12-year-old Lexus RX350, but have a similar  dilemma. Might look at a BMW X1 xLine, but I think it will be too small for our needs.

PCP or PCH is not an option, due to cost, and most SUV’s and MPV’s have black interiors; and due to claustrophobia, I need a light colour interior with plenty of light coming in.

The RX is perfect in every way for both our needs, and to be honest; even if there was no price threshold, I still don’t even know what car I would choose.

Good luck Jill (and everyone else).

I have the 2.4  XC60 and added a 2 year extension after speaking with Motability operations last year, they were very helpful and explained that I could change at any time during this period without incurring a penalty on the good condition payment. There is absolutely nothing out there at the moment that comes anywhere near to this car and given the fact that it retailed at the time, 2016, at a tad over £43,000 I doubt I will get an equivalent to match. Recently spoke with a good friend who works for Mercedes and he said the new GLB may end up on the scheme but that it could now be next year

Jill, What about the Ford Kuga ST-Line X. This has heated seats, electric adjusts for driver and remote boot opening. AP highish though. GD
