Collected our new Scenic yesterday, only extra we added was the EV pack for the higher boot floor. Great service from Right Car at Louth. Range is looking around the 300 mark and most of that was on the A1 on the way to Huntingdon after we collected it.
Only downside so far is the reversing camera has a terrible resolution I’m not sure if this is standard or not will find out Monday, wireless charging pad can’t seem to deliver enough to keep the phone charged. On the plus side, the bings and bongs are very subtle and very easy to turn off altogether if you want to. The other big minus is the cost of the data package to use the built in apps, Google Maps, Google Assistant and My Reanult connected services are free for 5 years from collection. Only way around it use your phone wifi for other services as a hotspot that I can see so far.

Hi, nice looking car, just a thought but the data package is only a sim card? Have you looked into replacing the current one with a cheap and cheerful one?
Smarty do one for £12 and I doubt you could use 125gb a month in your car
Just a thought
July 28, 2024 at 12:32 am #285780You should beable to share your phones data connection with the car to use the apps!
Nice looking car 🙂
Edit:
You will need access to a data plan to use apps downloaded from Google Play.
To do this, just share the phone’s connection with your Renault vehicle by connecting in the vehicles settings.
In all, more than 50 apps with interactive and dynamic content are available, including 11 that are exclusive in partnership with Renault.

Sim card can’t be replaced it’s with Orange Fr £9.99 for 6GB !
@kezo yeah I think that’s the route we’re going to use to be honest.Got fed up with ever changing dates with the Enyaq and had this within three weeks and the Openr infotainment system with Google is so much more responsive.

Are you saying they can be turned off permanently and don’t need to be switched off each time the car is started, which is the case on our Audi Q4?
July 28, 2024 at 9:56 am #285795The rip off merchants,
Orange.fr do a sim for €2.99 a month with 30gb data Europe wide and we are included. It’s called the mobicarte mini card
July 28, 2024 at 6:25 pm #285819Resets each time but it’s literally one button to go into Perso mode which has all your own settings or three presses of the circle button on right to switch them off each time.

Yeah don’t think you an change it to be honest might be an e-sim but just using wi-fi through the phone.
July 28, 2024 at 8:59 pm #285835Hi, done some digging today and all I can find is it’s a e sim, so it would have to be a dealership or your local hacker group if they exist, to change it.
I know it’s not alot but when you see it at a third of the price for 5x more you gotta wounder

July 28, 2024 at 11:44 pm #285842Got the Austral, the reversing/360 camera in that is low res too. No idea why they put such low res camera’s in. As for the wireless charging pad, mine hates it if you have a case on your phone even if it’s a thin one, taking it off and it will charge just fine.
As for the data, Renault include a very basic package which is enough to run all the Google stuff but it’s no good if you want to download stuff like Vivaldi and watch Youtube. Thankfully i have a unlimited plan on my phone so can use that.
Car History:
Ford Fiesta
Vauxhall Astra Mk6
Mazda 3
BMW 2 Series Coupe
Mercedes A Class
Vauxhall Astra Mk8 (Lease ended early)
Renault AustralJuly 29, 2024 at 9:40 am #285856I’ve got the new Clio Esprit Alpine and the reversing camera in that is equally low res.
Not really a problem and it does the job. A bit of model-wide cost cutting from Renault methinks.
I have the mobile phone charging pad too which doesn’t charge. I tried taking it out of its case but still won’t charge wirelessly. Seems that the charging pad only works with certain mobiles, and with mine being a few years old now, it’s probably a bit of a dinosaur phone without the tech needed to charge from the pad.
Small niggles. Love the car other than that.
July 29, 2024 at 10:33 am #285864Very Nice
I would have this in a heartbeat,
Enjoy
I dont use the Megan E Tec charging pad as to slow and heats up the phone far to much
I only had to turn off bongs on day 1
But suspect but not certain
your Scenic has the new EU UK safety spec which you need to overide each time

July 29, 2024 at 1:39 pm #285875Looking foward to picking mine up. Could have had one 2 weeks earlier, but wanted the Matt grey paint that takes me into the first week of Sept and the new 74 reg. Happy with that.
I nay need to get on to the dealership and ask about these cashback discounts I’ve seen of around £250. Although I’m more than happy to pay the £995 AP, £250 is still better off in my pocket than theirs.

Yea had a play around with the settings today and it does reset each time apart from the Perso mode settings. Great drive and all good could just do with the pad charging faster but not the end of the world
July 29, 2024 at 2:25 pm #285877What’s wireless charging speed of the pad and your phone?
July 29, 2024 at 2:51 pm #285878What’s wireless charging speed of the pad and your phone?
Haven’t a clue on the power of the induction pad fitted to the scenic but the phone can go up to 18W.
July 29, 2024 at 3:08 pm #285879If the cars wireless pad isn’t cooled it will most likely be rated a 15w (Qi2 standard).
I just charge mine of a lead, as its much faster and can cope if your phone needs charging whils’t on a call etc.
July 29, 2024 at 3:11 pm #285880Yeah just ordered one so it’s not a deal breaker. Cheers
August 1, 2024 at 11:34 am #286035It’s a lovely looking car, had a look at one when i had my Austral in for it’s service / updates a few weeks ago.
To many happy, safe and comfortable miles ahead
Renault are definitely on a roll with tech, refinement and hybrid tech & so very comfortable / access too.
I had the mid spec austral, as it was before the top spec model came on.
I’ve done 13000 miles now and average 55.6 mpg with 80% local urban / extra urban & 20% dual carriageway / motorway NB the austral is obv petrol / hybrid – average 620-650 on a full tank of petrol.

Did you manage to get order tracking working? I ordered mine on the 20th and said I dont mind which colour just get it here as soon as possible. Was hoping for 2 weeks but they have gone very quiet.
August 1, 2024 at 10:16 pm #286079When I ordered mine the delay was with delivery from the import centre as they’re short staffed.

I’ve not bothered looking tbh.
The salesman should me the stock that was coming over and I could have had a met grey one within two weeks. I wanted the matt paint though and he showed me that both the matt and met black would be the end of Aug, first week in Sept, which is when the new reg comes out so I was happy to wait.
He sent me the paperwork via email of the confirmed order, but I’ve not really looked at it as he gave me a call a few days ago to see if I had any problems with ending my lease on my current Motability car. He said everything was on track for the first week in Sept.
I did forget to ask him about other dealerships offering cashback, so I’ll drop him an email about taht to see if they can match it. Of you don’t ask, you don’t get.
