I am in love with the Renault Megane tbh, being able to say ok google turn on heating to 18 15 miles from home is a big plus, I love the fact you can control stuff from home from talking to your car

Surely you can just do that from your phone using the google speech icon connected via android auto for example and is nothing specfic to just the Megane using hive or or another app.

Not that we have those devices and personally we don’t intend to as they will also beable to be turned off by outside forces. like if there is power shortages and they have already said they want to turn off your freezer etc, when they decide to.

I do reckon also at some point you won’t beable to buy a household appliance without it being connected and it will be able to be controlled to save power when need by the grid. Also when your allowed to charge you car, forget if you got plans.

The downside for me of the Megane is the huge Ap’s and there is no way I would pay or could justify that much to lease a car over 3 years the top model is £166.52 on top of the full allowance you already pay.

But if you like it, can afford it, go for it. No issues there at all. Just my opinion.

When I was looking in 2017 the clio was to to small, but  the top trim was £99 ap now it’s £1,095 virtually 11 times what it was and megane was way too much ap back then, but i did like the look of it.

So went with a golf in the end.

We had one of the first generation Renault Meganes back in the day. What a reliable car it was. Never had any problems with it travelled up and down the uk aswell. Of course that was the old generation and this is the new ?

my whole home is basically smart, from blinds to every switch in the house almost, smart plugs etch have a setting in them to auto back to on when there is a power cut, but the system I run is all run locally apart from my alexa speakers everything is local.

one thing I do have as an advantage though, is I am on a go tarrif with a cost of 12p kwh for 12:30 to 5:30am and lucky enough when I was still able to work I put solar in with a 6kwh battery, I actually dont charge the battery at all from the solar and set it to charge from the grid during the cheap off peak times (as well as car) so for the next day I probably use 1 or 2 kwh… I am currently campaining to the govt that people that are in a situation were at times they rely on connected equipment, (stair lifts, home monitoring such as telecare etc) should be automatically given a grant for solar and a battery… not only will it be benificial for them, it could also be a life saver if there are power cuts.
