      Sorry to be a pain people, you may have got this question over and over again but I can’t find any answers and it may also assist others.

      On my award form it says from 2017 – January 2021. How does the reassessment take place, is it 14 weeks before the date? I haven’t received anything in the post nor any phone calls as I am hearing people receiving reviews a year before. My condition has worsened over the 3 year period. Many thanks

        Hi Dave,

        I hope you don’t mind me asking but are you nearing Pensionable Age? Also, I assume it’s a reassessment for PIP not DLA?

        It is generally 12 months before your PIP award is due to end, you would be assessed again. Unless you are about to reach State Pension age, as that anniversary also triggers a reassessment.

        You are right, at the moment DWP are taking approximately 14 weeks to complete a reassessment from start to finish.

        If in any doubt, ring the number at the top of your award letter from DWP. They should be able to tell you straight.

        Good luck Dave ?

          Yes people were being reassessed 12 months before but due to coronovirus it is now 6 months before. You need to check your award as if it is an end date award and not a reassessment you’ll have to call up and get forms again to fill out before the 2021 date so you aren’t left without. If it is reassessment award then I would wait until 6 months before end date before calling for a new form. The other option is you can call and say you are worse but this will often mean reassessment and you risk loosing it all. Personally I would wait until 6 months before award is due to finish then call them.

            Hi @Matt B, no I am not, i’m aware of state pensionable age you have to apply for Attendance Allowance as PIP do not cover this. Also, no, i’m not a DLA claimant, I was awarded PIP in 2017. I think I read somewhere it is usually 14 weeks before the award ends? Perhaps.

            I’m a bit hesitant to ring up DWP about this but it’s all confusing, maybe I will get a letter in the post around November/December?? Maybe it is a fixed PIP and not a continuous one? Alot of questions are going through my head. Everyone I have seen in the forum are mentioning they have been reviewed a year before which is strange.

              Hi @Zoe, it mentions end of January and we are in August. 5 months remaining. It is strange indeed. Yes I don’t want to ring them and risk losing it all but they do have access to my GP/Hospital and I have extra evidence if they do require it. I’m going to have to ring them.

                The award notice will state if it will end or reviewed so that will help. It did used to be a year but now they are over run they have set it to 6 months before reassessment and people now are having a 6 month extension to their award due to the virus causing such a backlog. Check your letter and if it is renewal then call them now otherwards you could be left with no PIP as an end award does not keep payment until assessment is done

                  Hi Dave,

                  The 14 weeks quoted online is the duration a reassessment takes for DWP to complete.

                  If your hesitant to ring, contact your local Citizens Advice Bureau or Welfare Rights. From what you originally posted, your PIP has a definite end date.

                  If your original assessment 3 yrs ago confirmed your condition was so debilitating your current award was warranted, and your health has worsened then surely your award would continue if not potentially increase if you are not already receiving the maximum for each component. I am aware however, how easy it is for me to make such an assumption without the worry of losing an award hanging over me. All the negative stories you hear automatically has people assuming the worse and its awful.

                  Please don’t leave it and seek some professional (independent) advice as you are within the last 6 months of your award.

                  Very best of luck Dave, take care.

                      Hi @Zoe, just had a look at the letter and it says they would contact after January 2020 (which is exactly a year from the date it ends) to see if needs change so that i’m guessing is requiring a review/reassessment but covid decides to come along and delay things. What’s keeping me uncertain is the fact that it’s now under a year and under 6 months so i’m guessing I shall wait till 3 months remain. I also don’t want to lose the motability vehicle which is the main thing as it’s supporting me alot.

                      @Matt
                      B, Oh I see, I thought it meant 14 weeks before they would contact and review (silly me) but thank you for the recommendations. I think I will contact CAB. On the award it has an exact start date and end date but then they mention after Jan 2020 they would be in contact. The last I had a contact from them was April 2020 about rates. Thanks alot for the advice.

                      @Matt
                      , see, you’re another who has been contacted via phone a year before but mine mentions after Jan 2020. I shall wait.

                        If it doesn’t say ongoing with a date for review on your award letter then you will have to ring them and ask for new forms to make another claim, if you wait until 3 months before your award ends then I fear you will not have enough time to get the claim processed and may risk loosing your car.

                        A phone call would be the best way of checking just what is required of you, better safe than sorry.

                          Dave if you get pip before pension age it continues after if your still eligible, but you cannot get higher mobility if you did not get higher mobility before pension age.

                            I wouldn’t wait because you are under the 6 months already and unfortunately it take much longer than 6 months to complete to review process especially with covid too. You’ll have to do the renewal so the earlier within the 6 months the better. I’d give them a call

                              I am due for a review in October 2021. I am on PIP; both enhanced rates. I am on Pension Credit/State Pension. I am 67 years old. I have not heard anything from the DWP. When will I get a review letter? Thanks

                                <p style=”text-align: left;”>I’m due in march next year and I’ve not heard anything from them. Is it worth a call to them?</p>
