Real world EV figures

I have the DS3 Crossback E-Tense so the same EV setup as Vauxhall and Peugeot.

During the hotter weather I managed a high of what would have been the equivalent of 210 miles of range.  This was based on totally urban driving where I was getting the maximum benefit of regenerative braking. This worked out as somewhere around 550 mpg!

Over the last few days (early December) I’ve used 44.9 kWh to do 98 miles. I believe that my battery, rated at 50 kWh has a useable figure of 45 kWh so I would have used all of it to do those miles.

I have done a fair bit of stop and start mileage, where the car is cold again so has to heat from scratch.  I also really feel the cold so have the heating on at 23 degrees.  Obviously my headlights are on a lot too but LED’s are supposed to be low on power usage.

My miles per kWh works out as 2.18 with a cost per mile of 2.29p (using the Octopus Go 5p tariff).  This still equates to 281.6 mpg.

My last ICE car averaged 17p per mile and could go as low as 25-30 mpg in winter so I’m still vastly better off with the EV.

Hopefully this info will be useful to anyone considering going electric.
