May 10, 2023 at 9:04 pm #221097I hope I’m wrong but, I suspect they will basic entry level “mini” type cars the dealers find it harder to sell!
You can apply online to save time but, you need to go into the dealers to order the car!!

MaccaI suspect there will be a load of fiesta’s and focus’s on there but lers wait n see
May 10, 2023 at 10:08 pm #221101I presume that this is for new cars only? It’s a shame that they don’t do a scheme for cars returned early before lease end, just as many company car schemes do.

So much this! Honestly even low mileage 3 year old cars could work.

I watched a Facebook Q&A with Motability last year, I’m sure they said they were looking into that.

May 11, 2023 at 10:00 am #221111Looks like an excellent idea addressing the concerns that many of us have about wait times. Of course the success will depend on the availability of vehicles but that isn’t something Motability can control. Good on them at least for trying something different.

I think you would need to have a good look at the maths agains’t leasing an already 3 year old car for another 3 years against buying off the scheme. Especially if you have to sacrifice your full award amount.
Bringing back some form of HP on low mileage 3 year old cars may also be a good idea.
May 11, 2023 at 10:53 am #221118You said it nicer ?

I wasn’t meaning 3 year old cars, I was meaning cars returned early. They get a lot of early surrenders of cars that may be as little as a year old or less, due to people not getting on with the car, disability needs changing or even losing PIP. These cars are all sent to auction, which is daft when there are people waiting 6 months for the same car who would bite their hand off!
May 11, 2023 at 12:17 pm #221132It would be very interesting to see what’s available via this route. I wonder how many of us waiting for factory orders would be tempted to cancel and do this to get a car quicker, but without knowing what’s available it’d be a big risk and I wouldn’t be at all surprised if MB didn’t allow it.
If I seem a little strange, that's because I am.

You did indeed “It’s a shame that they don’t do a scheme for cars returned early before lease end, just as many company car schemes do.”
My point was at 3yrs as suggested by Adrian was the bigger need to do the maths if Mb still required the full sacrifice of your allowance against buying outside the scheme, if funds allowed 🙂

NiroIt’s going to be the Chinese cars.
The rest of the world have gotten us used to waiting possibly over a year for a new car! While the Chinese (MG4 anyone?) Have loads of stock.
I just got my new MG4 on the day I
ordered itenquired about it. Took a photo with it, then the dealership got it ready while I waited for the motability application to go through (4 days) and.. I wasn’t part of the trial.I even managed to call around a few dealerships to find one that had the exact color and spec that I wanted
August 9, 2023 at 2:23 am #229518Is this designed for the customers who are unable or not motivated enough to phone a dealer directly and ask if they have any “stock available” of a particular car you want.
August 9, 2023 at 8:42 am #229523
DruvethruI did what Niro did with the MG4. I called around dealers expecting delivery and placed an order with one that was sure. I for my MG4 within a few weeks.

GeeWho’ll get the email and who’ll not ?
Getting email:
Customers that have extended their current 3 year lease probably getting said email.
Customers fast approaching the end of their current lease probably getting the email too.
Customers that have history leasing over priced and/or hard to shift vehicles.
Not getting email:
Everyone else.

GeePerhaps an early indicator of what hard to shift cars will not be seeing an AP increase on 1st October.
