IsmaeelSo I cancelled the GTD back in November , However I am now wanting to reorder it. The bad news is that the GTD is now off the scheme :/
I called Volkswagen today and they are saying I still may be able to go back to my initial ordered and that it may be possible to order it again .
I was wondering if this is actually possible? I need to wait till Tuesday to call them for an official answer but wanted to come on here to ask if anyone has done this before?

Hi Ismaeel – No harm in asking, but I’m pretty sure the answer will be no, unless the order wasn’t cancelled on the Motability system. If the answer turns out to be yes then do come back and tell us as I think it will be a first and others may wish to do the same!

72 dudesI’ll say it again.
This is why Motabilty customers get a bad reputation and get sent to the back of the queue where dealers are concerned.

I very much doubt that. In reality, I suspect that the percentage of Motability customers who cancel orders is minuscule and, for all we know, is no greater than is the case for other lease companies or private buyers. Also, as pointed out on another thread, dealers could be quids in during the present climate if a Motability customer backs out as they could potentially end up with a car that they could sell at a significantly better profit to a private customer! This profit differential is why all lease customers (not just Motability ones) are at the back of the queue at present. BTW, I say this as someone who has never cancelled an order myself!

IsmaeelWith the semi-conductor shortages and delayed delivery times I have would say cancellations are not uncommon. It is my first time applying through motability and can honestly say it is very difficult to choose a vehicle as you never know when another company might put their cars back on the scheme . Choosing a car just feels like a gamble at the moment.

Spot on. As this is your first Motability order, it’s worth knowing that the quarterly changes apply more to Advance Payments than they do to vehicle choice. Vehicles can (and do) come on and off the scheme on an almost daily basis. See the ‘Car Numbers on the scheme’ thread for details.
January 2, 2022 at 9:04 pm #173063My experience of the OP’s question is no, you can’t re-open a cancelled order.
I had a Tiguan on order early last year that was delayed by Covid, while waiting for it to arrive my leased Yeti was written off by a man in a van. I rang round trying to find a Tiguan and my local (Newcastle) dealer said they had one, they cancelled the original Motability order (which was with JCT in Wakefield) then rang me 2 days later and said they didn’t really have one at all and hadn’t placed the order with Motability 🙁
I rang Motability straight away and the short answer was once an order is cancelled it’s gone. A new order has to be placed at current AP rates etc. In my case they wouldn’t accept an order until they fully re-opened on July 1st, the AP by then had massively jumped to almost double to £2995 so no Tiguan 🙁
Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!
January 3, 2022 at 3:07 am #173080You have to be sure that you are happy with the AP on the car you order. It’s a case of the dog and its reflection. Just be happy. Waiting to see what may or may not happen is a mugs game. Place your order and don’t look back.

Why did you cancel in the first place?
To be clear, i very much doubt you’ll get that order back. Almost would bet money on it.
