AnonymousMy Enyaq has to go in and get repaired. Dealer put through a request on Saturday to rac assist to organise a courtesy car as they didn’t know how long it will take to fix. On Saturday afternoon rac assist called saying that they are arranging an automatic suv from europcar and sent me the details. Said europcar would be in touch.
On Monday Europcar rang to confirm that I really needed an automatic and an suv as it might take 24-48hr to get one instead of something smaller.
Anyway since then I have heard nothing but if I go onto their website if I was a paying customer I could get a car instantly!!Has anyone had a similar experience?

What went wrong with the Enyak ?
October 9, 2024 at 10:03 am #290599This is quite normal and you would have the same issue as a paying customer. Car hire companies tend not to have larger SUV type cars sitting around and they move them around between branches when required. This can’t always be the same day.
The last time we needed a hire car through Motability I explained that we needed a decent size SUV to accommodate the wheelchair and to ease access, and I was rather surprised to see a Mercedes GLB arrive. Unfortunately it was a Friday built one and I was glad to see the back of it, but the thought was there 😂
October 9, 2024 at 10:09 am #290601@Glos Guy what sort of damage cover do you get or does Motability take care of that ?
Do you have to place a credit card on file with them ?
October 9, 2024 at 10:12 am #290604I suspect the website is lying to get customers in… it’s hardly likely to say we know you need an SUV but here’s a Corsa instead 🤷♂️
October 9, 2024 at 10:49 am #290608Dee I’m in an europacar now and I don’t know when I’ll get my car back. I requested an automatic SUV and had to wait over three days for it.
Mick C they will want a £1 charge on your card to cover anything.
Also check for damage as mine had quite a bit.

AnonymousThanks everybody. I’ll just have to wait and see if they get in touch.
Enyaq apparently needs a new gateway control module due to lots to error messages and the last straw was it wouldn’t unlock until it felt like it !!
October 9, 2024 at 11:04 am #290611@des am i reading that correctly they charge £1 to your credit card as a full comprehensive damage waiver.
Were you without a car for 3 days or did they give you a runaround until the auto Suv arrived.

How long have you had the Enyak.
October 9, 2024 at 11:38 am #290619Mick the £1 is to register your card with them so if you leave it back with no fuel etc they can charge your card.
I think it was 5 days including a weekend that I had no car. Hurst (dealer), motability and europacar were useless and if I hadn’t have chased it up I probably would still not have a car
October 9, 2024 at 12:01 pm #290625I’m currently in a Europcar but we gave MO a call prior to the car going in as the dealer couldn’t supply a courtesy car.
Told them I had an Ioniq 6 and have somehow ended up in Merc GLB diesel.
October 9, 2024 at 12:30 pm #290629October 9, 2024 at 12:30 pm #290630A word of caution,
Photograph or video the car when you first get it and note any damage not listed to Motability. Also phograph the fuel level and the mileage, when you take delivery.
When you return the car do the above again.
October 9, 2024 at 1:41 pm #290636@KamKam now I’m curious as to why your Ioniq 6 is in the dealers 🫣
Cameras are just displaying a static grey screen. They are replacing the one in the tailgate, but all the cameras are doing it.

I hope that your GLB is more reliable than the one we had from Europcar. The whole instrument cluster / infotainment system kept going blank so I had no idea how fast I was going and one time the car went into limp home mode and I only cleared it by flooring the throttle. Pile of 💩😂

I’m with you there! Just about impossible to take away from lights without it lunging forwards and for some reason the windows are constantly steaming up. As Mercs go it is a shed lol
October 9, 2024 at 3:02 pm #290640@KamKam Not wishing to teach granny to suck eggs, but have you checked that the previous customer hasn’t switched the air con off? It’s amazing how many people don’t understand that this should be left on 365 days of the year and not just in the summer months.
October 9, 2024 at 3:57 pm #290645Check to see if the carpets are damp on the Merc?
I know a guy thats bought 2 as water damage salvage, and its the scuttle leaking water into the cabin. The other fault can be the heater matrix corroding and leaking into the cabin. J had that problem with one of my cars, I had to remove the interior to get to the matrix.

If I understand your question correctly, we have to pay an accident excess (can’t remember how much, it was years ago) and Motability take care of the rest. I had the option to place a card on file for the excess, but I elected to pay over the phone when they called me to say that the car was ready.
