      Hello all,

so I’ve finally received my BMW i4 and my home charger is being fitted until mid September so I’ve been charging the car using public chargers for now.

i did not realise charging this way was so expensive my first charge I charged from 30% until about 92% and this cost me £36!

is this quiet normal or is there a cheaper way to charge?

      Thanks

@cars123 find the nearest Ionity chargers and take out their Power subscription, use Tesla chargers either with or without a subscription and try to go at off peak times, Instavolt are offering discounts but only through the night from 10pm till 6am I think? Find a nice neighbour who has an EV and ask if you can share (paying your share obviously)

It also depends on where you are, try searching for free chargers, there are still some about, also you should have received the plug in charger with bmw?

          Good luck

If you have Tesla Superchargers fair close they are very cheap off-peak times. Ionity is cheap’ish if you take a monthly sub out.

Pricing is crazy right now with public chargers for the vast majority of them, Tesla bringing their price right down people thought it would start a price war but it never happened.

Motabilty teamed up with BP Pulse – The most expensive company regarding charging as far as i can see.

Thanks for all the advice, GRIDSERVE seem to have 20% off at the moment until the end of September and I have one nearby so I have been using that, not the cheapest but working out at 0.63p per kWh at the moment.

Ten months ago our local 50kw chargeplace cost 15p/KwHr.

But it was abused by people hogging the chargers. One of the chargers always had a taxi plugged into it. Turns out a local taxi company was charging their fleet and not using the chargers on their premises.

They spoiled it for everyone.  Now it costs 60p/KwHr and an overstay fine of £40.

It could be cheap, but always someone spoils it for everyone.

I got a free charge on a fast charger the other day. Might be a bit far for you being at Inveruglas, north Loch Lomond!
