Price Tracking

Hi all, I was wondering if any of the wonderful people on this forum had previously tracked pricing over a number of years to monitor trends. Trends such as X manufacturer have an increase in quarter 3 and a reduction in Q1. That way we can assess and monitor the market better. As most manufacturing pricing works to year on year comparisons.

Plus on another question. Order fulfilment over two quarters. Is it best advice not to place any deposit down? That way if the AP goes down you can cancel and reorder?

as ap’s change not just at quarter reveiws that would be a major piece of work.

personnally i have never paid a deposit, but then i have not had an ap over 1k.

i rely on the gcb and grant for needing an auto from veterans to pay any ap so i am restricted to the gcb plus £660.

also i have to say i havent been asked for a deposit either.

wmcforum has price lists going back years but, as far as I know, nobody has done a detailed analysis. As Mitch says, it would be nigh on impossible. However, I think that I can say with some confidence that there is no pattern. AP’s go up and down for no apparent reason and sometimes the changes can be huge. The only definite trend with the Motability scheme is the continual reduction in choice, now well under half the number of cars that we used to have.

Deposits shouldn’t affect your ability to reorder if the AP drops. The dealer doesn’t need to reorder the car, they just need to cancel and reinstate the admin with Motability. It takes less than 10 minutes and it doesn’t cost the dealer anything other than their time. I ordered a BMW in the last week of March and the AP dropped £100 the next week. As it was such a small amount I didn’t ask the dealer to do anything, but they called me offering to do it as they said that “£100 was better in my pocket than Motability’s”. They did it whilst I was on the phone and it was literally minutes. By the time I came off the call I had received an email from Motability confirming the new lower AP.
