Hi all, having transitioned from DLA to PIP back in 2016, my wife has now been sent a PIP AR1 review form. So it’s a much slimmed down version of the pip application form, and whilst I’m already shaping up how we’ll approach it, I just wondered if anyone on here has had any experience of this yet and if so …

      how did you complete it?

what did you provide with it?

Did you have to have another face to face assessment?

What was the outcome, did your award change?

I had problems with my GP simply because I’m not ill, I’m disabled so there is nothing the GP can do although when I did get to see him and I explain to him that the DWP and their so say health professionals say I can walk more than 20 metres even though no one has ever seen me walk 20 metres.

My doctor answer to that was “but they’ve only got to look at you to know that” and there I rested my case.

At this time I’d had 10 points PIP but took them to court for the other two so put forward my case to the appeals court but was hoping to avoid the stress of that by gaining evidences but as I had a stroke in 2008 that has left me permanently disabled but quite healthy there is no evidenced other than that of the stroke hospital from 2008 so too far out of date for DWP.

My doctor said he would only write to the DWP if it went to appeal and sure enough two weeks later I took it to appeal and he wrote the support note that I can only assume the DWP throw straight in the filing cabinet.

Although I think that maybe, but can’t be sure, that the DWP has softened it’s stance on this health professional business because of the fallout with the government with them losing over 70% of appeals.

I’ve now got my 12 points and a 10 year award but with the government having loads of cash hanging around for chasing rainbow’s I wouldn’t be surprise to get one of theses AR1 forms over the next year or so even though the judge in my case wrote “it would be inappropriate to fix a term in Mr ***** case”.

Mine was reviewed at 2 years and awarded for 5 years after my stroke which has left me without the use of my left side ( i used to be left handed) and learning to use my right hand and unlearning after 50 years is proving troublesome to say the least so your 10 years is a result

            Hi Garys

The trouble with stroke recovery is that most of the recovery is within a few weeks after the event and slows as more time goes by so if you’ve survived a debilitating stroke for a year or more the way I see it you’re not going to get much better and this is where the DWP fall down because they know nothing.

I wouldn’t be surprised the next time they review you they give you the maximum time because if you haven’t changed in three years I’m afraid your not going to change however real health professionals will say otherwise to keep you positive.
