Marie AttewI know this isn’t directly car related in a way it is.
does anyone know how long it’s taking to get a pip claim through, mines due Nov 24 but car runs out Oct 7th 24. I’m just wondering if I will have my new pip paperwork before hand and how many weeks months it is before that you get them.

Certainly pushing it, but I believe Motability will let you keep your current car untill you get an answer 🙂

Mm7Hi
DWP will continue to pay your current award until your review is completed which means motability will still get paid and you keep the car.
Dependent on your needs and condition, its taking average of 2-4 months to get your review assessment with Capita/IAS (if you need one) and then the case going back to the DWP for a decision.September 16, 2023 at 9:21 pm #233668September 17, 2023 at 9:00 am #233673
Just2FishPIP requested I submit my review application September 2022, telephone medical assessment end of August 2023, finally did a final DWP telephone assessment 11 September 2023, yes one year on, no wonder they wanted to check my submission was still relevant, but told me there and then that there was no problem, and I got my paperwork this morning, 16 September, 10 year award. I must say though that my PIP assessor lady was thoroughly pleasant as we’re the medical telephone assessors for that and ESA a fortnight earlier, but there was a lot of evidence for both reviews that my condition had worsened.

Out of interest as I‘m currently about 7 years into a 10 year award and just wonder if you were on a 10 year award before the current one was awarded?
My condition hasn’t changed so a bit different from your case but my current award was advised to the DWP by a tribunal judge so I was hoping I’d just get a “has any thing change” letter from the DWP in 3 years time. I know I’m hoping but just hoping not to be put through the mangle again.

Just2FishMy previous award was for 5 years that became 7 because of the Covid interruption, that was won at tribunal, without me even being up to going to it, because my assessor hadn’t known the law. This time it was a shorter form, shorter medical, by phone, and both assessors, medical and DWP, were really understanding, and pleasant to deal with.

Marie AttewI’ve already clarified that with motability as this is my first car thank you though

RichardIn 2021 I did the renewal paperwork in December award “finished” in July but they kept on the monthly rollover. I called in August and they hadn’t even looked at my paperwork at that point.
I needed to renew my blue badge which a rolling monthly award did not help and I didn’t fancy making arguments over an application without PIP.
I asked my MP for help couple of days later he sent me an email with an award letter both elements enhanced as before. If they’re being rubbish don’t forget to contact your MP first they might get you a result with minimal aggravation. I sent an email to them that took me 2 mins to write vs the hour I was on hold to the DWP

GeeIn the early days my PIP award was ‘indefinite’ that then changed to something less than indefinite (i can’t remember the actual term used) Still, the new ‘less than indefinite’ terminology did worry me particularly because my health has deteriorated not improved since that initial indefinite award.
I guess its a good thing that the govt are trying to keep a tight reign on the public purse strings by ensuring that we receive the correct amounts of money for the correct length of time.
Similarly it would also be a good thing if government were equally diligent in ensuring big business paid their full tax bill into the public purse because it seems that for many of those guys an ‘indefinite’ get out of jail award is the order of the day.

GeeJust noticed that my previous comment in this thread saw me going off on a tangent ie completely off-topic.
I do that sometimes without realizing it so apologies to the OP.
Lots of others were completely on-topic with their posts though.
September 19, 2023 at 2:58 pm #233988Your 10 yr award is the same as mine
Called ongoing ( strongest long term award )
10yr award recognises that a condition/s are not deemed to improve
My 10yr award is now ending and I am waiting on a light touch review form
Light touch is a basic review looking to see if everything is the same.
In my case it is
Others may wish to highlight changes but by doing so may run the risk of the whole award being looked at again as it was on day 1

Thanks for that Burgerman
Yep no changes here other than I’m 15 years older that doesn’t help but whatever you say, “say nothing” is my motto these day’s when it comes to the DWP.
