Best check the car over before exchanging the pin I guess, ask any questions you may have about the car..

Lets have some experienced replies here..

Hope it all goes well, pics are always great to see on here too ?

Most importantly of all, check that the car is exactly the model that you ordered and has any optional extras that you ordered. There have been a few cases where the wrong car has been supplied. Do this before you enter your PIN. It is only when you enter your PIN that you enter into a contract (with Motability). Prior to this, you can reject the car with no commitment.

You will also need to pay your Advance Payment on a debit card. From memory, you also have to state the names of any named drivers and provide a copy of their driving licence (someone will correct me if I’ve got that wrong, but that’s my recollection).

Ask the salesperson to run through any quirks in the controls before you leave (they should do this anyway, but some cut corners). Finally, enjoy the car!

When you collect its very easy, we collect Wednesday, you will need the Pin number and thats it, you may get asked to confirm the drivers but they should already have all that sorted. check the car and the spec to be sure all is ok. we had a good dealer and he told us he is happy to spend 5 mins or a hour explaining all the controls etc , nothing seemed to much trouble but we have had different cars before and its almost been  ‘heres the keys, bye’ from some places. dont rush remember that  you have it for a least 3 years and you want it right. you will have to pay the advanced payment during the handover so take a credit/debit card with you. not sure if they would take a cheque, we always use our debit card . enjoy the experience . heres a pic of our handover, this dealership always takes a photo for their facebook page (1st time thats happened , and they did ask if it was ok)

Oh the fuel (if needed), always make sure you know of the fuel stations near by, and have means of payment …

I collect my car the week before last and all I needed was the PIN though Motability does say to take your driving license as well but mine was never asked for and there are no other drivers for my car.

Was able to check most of the car as it was parked in the disabled bay outside the showroom awaiting my blue badge.

I could see before entering the PIN that everything was as spec at the time of ordering and only thing I needed to know was the filler cap and how it unlocked however the dealer had already half filled the tank so that aspect was not so important.

Did have a bit of a discrepancy in how much I had to pay on the day in regards to AP + adaptions + extra’s. There figure was about £600 more than mine but I suspect they weren’t right because the original invoice did not add up proper so I had printed off my price as I thought it should be so had all the correct numbers to hand over for them to check without reverting to a calculator. The Motability guy did a few sums and agreed with me their figure was wrong so he went way for about 20 minutes (to see the manager I presume) and came back and took the payment I had on my paper. Worth a mention is the Motability guy was not the one I had ordered with as that one had moved on.

This last part about doing your sums against Motability AP price list on order day and any extra’s you have added is a good measure and is something, although this was the first time, I will always do now as my last car was more than expected on collection day because they changed one of the adaptions to a more expensive one and forgot to inform me.
