Order books have officially opened for the pure-electric Peugeot e-208, which is priced from £25,050.

Monthly finance deals have also been confirmed, with the entry-level e-208 Active costing from £289 per month with a deposit of £5,450 on a 48-month contract.

That’s similar pricing to the e-208’s sibling and chief rival, the Vauxhall Corsa-e, although it’s likely that the updated Renault ZOE will offer a cheaper alternative.

Four trims will be available on the e-208, with the entry-level Active spec getting Peugeot’s i-Cockpit dashboard displays, a seven-inch touchscreen, cruise control, lane-keeping assistance and smartphone connectivity in the form of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard.

Also included are 16-inch steel wheels and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, as well as powered and heated door mirrors, plus pre-heating functionality and automatic air-conditioning.

The Allure trim costs £26,250, and adds a gloss-black B-pillar, leather-effect seat upholstery, double stitching detail and ‘Claw Effect’ LED tail-lights.

GT Line trim is priced at £28,100 and includes front and rear parking sensors, a reversing camera, additional active safety systems and ‘smart’ headlights.

The wheels are also upgraded to 17-inch alloys, with gloss-black wheelarch extensions and a black roof added, too.

The top-spec GT trim is exclusive to the e-208: it costs £29,650 and adds fully automated parking assistance, adaptive cruise control, lane-positioning assistance and blind-spot monitoring, as well as Alcantara trim, heated front seats and a 10-inch colour touchscreen.

All prices take into account the Government’s £3,500 plug-in car grant.

I just wonder when we will start to see some of these BEVs coming to the scheme.
