Hi everyone, absolutely fuming! Just spent 30 mins trying to find parking for my appointment. Ended up being late!!!

You would think they would be an app for this by now! Does anyone else have difficulties finding parking?

Where were you trying to Park for your appointment? Did you research the area before hand for parking?

You don’t need an app, just do your research and allow plenty of time before your appointment.  I would rather be early than late.

If I’m going somewhere new, I always look on google maps for nearby parking and set out earlier. Likewise appointments at my local Hospital or Doctors, I always leave 15-20mins earlier than needed.

Bit out of date, but might help –

Just been to hospital this morning and someone in a long wheel base van had parked across 2 disabled bays (no blue badge). It wasn’t even workers. It was a couple who just dumped it there. There’s only a few disabled bays, so most of us have to park in the multi-story which is quite a walk away.

Yep this abuse of the accessible parking bays is more and more common and increasingly annoying.  I over heard an irate Blue badge owner in discussion with a young bimbo who left her grandmother in the car whilst she went shopping  for 3o mins. The guy had been parked waiting to get his wife out of the WAV but had no where safe to do so.

I may have mentioned it on another thread that my brother used to be a parking supervisors at a local hospital.  One day he had an irate blue badge owner berate him because there were no accessible parking spaces  available and he had to walk around the hospital perimeter twice to find someone to complain.  My brother dually filled in a complaint form recording the details and the persons address and got him to sign.  Then pointed out that the perimeter of the hospital is several miles long and even a fraction of this would make him in eligible for a parking entitlement and that misuse would be considered fraudulent – for someone with an alleged disability he sure disappeared quickly!

I had this problem back when I first had my stroke and the hospital was still trying to get me back on my feet.

I had six appointments booked in at the hydro-pool in the central Bristol Royal Infirmary and first week appointment was fine as I found a BB space right outside the hydro-pool but the following week no spaces anywhere so had to ring the hospital to tell them I was outside but can’t park so was cancelling that and all other appointments.

What makes me mad is that the hospital asked the council for their multi-story car park to be knocked down and rebuilt with more spaces that was refused because they think everyone should be using the buses. I really hope our mayor and councillors rot in hell.

I found that Blue Badge parking bays are often full or being used by vans carrying out a service. It can be very infuriating.

I use the app AppyParking, which can be very helpful in understanding where the Blue Badge parking bays are. I see they are working with Harrogate & Dunee to turn the parking in the city into smart parking…believe this is the first step towards smart cities with connected cars and EV charging or something?

It would be great if I could guarantee that no one is in the parking spot I want before I travel, or even pre-booked my parking ahead of time!! Hopefully someone comes up with this solution quickly.

We have this problem regularly, especially at the local hospital. It’s that bad Mrs Joe now tries to get appointments before 9am.

Our GP practice is even worse, 10 spaces always full and the one disabled bay always contains a car not displaying a blue badge. Mrs Joe just can’t get into our GP practice, she always has to get phone appointments.

The problem is the number of disabled parking spaces has not kept up with the rise in the number of blue badges being issued.
