Ohme: Additional charges

New house and new Motability car so getting a new charger fitted (I didn’t have one from Motability on the previous car)

Filled out the survey, guy came to look at the installation, agreed it was straight forward, and simple as all the pre installation wiring has been done, just needed the cable burying underground for approx 2 meters.

I’ve had the quote from Ohme, £2000… for additional work, they are seriously taking the piss, I already had a quote from a local EV installer for the Ohme Pro, £600 inc VAT for installation including all additional work after the grant for being in a Rental of £350, so basically £950 for everything including the Ohme Pro with 8m cable.

I’ve contacted Motability who have queried it with Ohme, who supposedly have 48 hours to respond in their contract with Motability, after 7 days, I chased Motability, and they’ve re submitted the query again, now 3 days later and still nothing.

Think next course of action is to push for the supplier I got the quote from to be able to do the work and get the cost back from Motability.  Really feel that Ohme are possibly taking advantage and hoping people know no better?

I think you might nit be able to recover the cost if fitting a charger by a local company, as Motability have not authorised it.

Agree, I’m going to push Motability to approve it first

Motability agreement with Ohme can be an absolute rip off for those that need a more complicated install over the standard install, Something I have never agreed with TBH.

£950 sounds about right for a local intaller and of caurse you can claim the £350 ULEV grant being in a rental property, is far better than shelving £2k where the charger is supposedly free! (The Ohme Pro is under £500 trade)

Maybe not but, £600 for a charger and installation is a no brainer when the op is being charged £2k for installation only via Motability.

It’s worse than that, it’s £2k charge for me for the additional work and then the cost they charge Motability

It is not Ohme that installs the charger, but a Sub-Contractor.

If you had contacted Ohme, which is easy, they respond within a couple of hours and pass your query on to the Installation company.

Dear Ohme, Could you explain why you sub contractor is ripping me off and charging me £2000 ontop of a standard installation through the Motability scheme.

I woud also be grateful if you could also explain this cost in more detail, especially when a local company have priced £950 for a Ohme carger and installation at the said address in which I qualify for the £350 grant!!!
