I think the cap will be removed soon otherwise we won`t even have a Grandland Hybrid on the scheme.

Prices for plug-in hybrid Vauxhall Grandland X Hybrid announced, with cars due in showrooms in early 2020

The new Vauxhall Grandland X Hybrid4 – the company’s first plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV) – will be priced from £35,590 when it arrives in showrooms early next year.

Four trim levels will be available: entry-level Business Edition Nav Premium, SRi Nav (£40,300), Elite Nav (£42,200) and Ultimate Nav (£45,450).

Featuring a 1.6-litre turbocharged engine producing 197bhp and two electric motors adding 109bhp, the total system output is 296bhp. As such, 0-62mph should take seven seconds.

With a motor each on the Hybrid4’s front and rear axles, four-wheel drive is available on demand. Officially it emits 36g/km of CO2 – good news for company-car drivers and those wishing to avoid the London Congestion Charge – while fuel economy is rated at 176.5mpg.

Of course, owners will only get remotely close to this figure by maximising their use of the 13.2kWh battery, which returns 32 miles of electric-only, zero-emissions range on full charge.

There’s a standard 3.3kW on-board charger, which can be upgraded to 6.6kW at extra cost should a customer want faster charging. Using a 7.4kW home wallbox, Vauxhall says the battery can be topped up in under two hours.

Four driving modes will be offered: electric, hybrid, AWD (all-wheel drive) and Sport. Electric is the zero-emissions setting, while hybrid applies the most efficient mix of electric and engine power for everyday driving.

AWD gives permanent four-wheel drive for tackling rough terrain, and Sport frees up maximum performance at the cost of some efficiency.

The front electric motor is connected to an electrified eight-speed automatic gearbox, while the one at the rear incorporates a differential, allowing for four-wheel-drive traction when needed. Regenerative braking is also employed to feed energy back into the battery when slowing down.

In addition, buyers will get access to Vauxhall’s Free2Move service, comprising 85,000 charging points across Europe. Locations are programmed in to the car’s sat-nav, which has a journey planner function for calculating the most efficient route.

Key rivals for the Grandland X Hybrid4 include the big-selling Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, as well as the Kia Niro PHEV, MINI Countryman Cooper S E All4 and new Ford Kuga plug-in hybrid.

Also, the forthcoming Citroen C5 Aircross PHEV, Peugeot 3008 Hybrid4 and DS 7 Crossback E-Tense plug-ins use the same technical underpinnings as the Vauxhall.

Aside from the plug-in hybrid Grandland X, Vauxhall is also preparing a range of fully electric models, including the Corsa-e hatchback, Mokka X SUV, Vivaro van and Vivaro Life MPV.

Brydo only problem I can see is the Hybrid 225 bhp limit?

Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally I get confused and often say the wrong thing.

If that’s the price from Vauxhall, how much will the new hybrid vw’s and bmw’s cost?

Id say nearer £50k or the lowest spec.

If the cap stays we have no chance.

Lets hope motability can do a deal and they get offered to us.

Loki I’m neither tired or emotional, although I do get Tired of the same old dribble of people hiding behind their keypads and I must admit at times I do feel Emotional not for myself but for those that have nothing better to do than to try a cause upset for all those kind genuine posters out there. There are many single words that better discribe things but PITY is my present Emotional state but then I might just be tired.

What I can’t understand with this price, is the Volvo XC40 hybrid is ONLY £41,000ish. How can they justify it?

This is the first time I’ve had to do this so bear with me for a minute or two guys and girls.

Loki the trickster god …. you obviously have a high opinion of yourself but it’s not shared by the rest of us.

Let me tell you what you really are Loki …. you’re a sad little trouble maker who has been banned previously  by this forum for the same obnoxious behaviour under different user names.

We are not going to alter the ease with which we allow guests as well as registered members to post just to deal with you, but be assured that each time you reappear we will ban you and point out to our many decent posters what an idiot you are.

Why don’t you find a site for immature keyboard warriors and play your silly little games with like minded losers.

Is that clear enough for you Loki.

Silly to ban people then if you can’t really ban them. Expect more and yes I probably did break the site but not as you think. Admin uping security in an “attempt” to stop me will have done it whilst “tired and emotional”.

I am becoming confused with this post, I have found the moderators excellent they even went to the trouble of a signature at the end of my posts, I do not think the decision to ban Loki was taken lightly, if Loki needed some help they should ask, this is a safe forum for some us, I for one would last more than 30 seconds on sites like facebook with all its trolls.

I would like see the option of 4 and 5 year leases to bring some of these car within the budgets of those with limited financial resources, maybe in the form of a lower upfront AP, after all Mobility do have the financial resources ?

It was confirmed to me by Motability that Hybrids are classed as electric so at present have an 225hp cap  compared to 200hp normal. I can’t see this changing in the near future for insurance reasons, but the Cap has to change surely

Phil BMW already have a full electric and hybrid on the scheme, neither of which is anywhere near £50,000. The AP’s aren’t horrendous either, especially considering the 2 series is the TOP spec.

Saints man I’m talking about a larger vehicle that could fit a small electric chair or scooter in the boot, the cars bmw have on the scheme are not as big as something like a vw Tiguan or a rav 4 or the grandland
