        Don’t worry about it 🙂

Most dealers are great and will walk you through the process.  You find the car that best suits your needs, if they try to push you into something else just walk away, there are plenty of dealers and other makes to choose from.

If you’d like to let us know which dealer you’re using there may be other members who have used them and can give their advice about them.

Depending on the car you choose it may be available from existing stock, if not it will have to be ordered which could take weeks or even months at the moment.  Again check with other dealers or brands to see what is available.

Don’t be pushed into paying the advance payment (if their is one) there and then, you aren’t required to. Usually you only pay it when you go to collect the car and you are 100% happy with things.

And don’t be afraid to ask any questions you have here, there’s no such thing as a stupid question 🙂

          Phaedra you’re a star

I am looking at the Croydon Mercedes

if the car I want is in stock, how long would it take for to start driving it from the day of going into the dealership?

Just read your other posting in Q3 Prices.  Usually for an in stock vehicle it’s about 2weeks to get the aplication onto Motability’s system, have them send out your letter and PIN code (to enter when you collect the car) and the dealer to prepare the car for you.

Spoke to MB few weeks ago about how soon i could be in it if i did order a instock car, as the one i had ordered was having issues with getting it and was told it would be a min of 7 days before it could happen,  but it’s all been sorted now. been in it for a week now..

Phaedra is right though could be upto 2 weeks depends if the cars is close by and ready to go and  if everything goes smoothly their end and of cousre is a good time for you as well..

Takes a couple of days to process the application and 4 days to sort insurance out, plus the dealer will need to register the new car, most are done electronically these days. so thats pretty quick.

Make sure you get a good test drive as well as often it’s not in the exact car you will be getting, so bare that in mind the seats, trim level or engine etc maybe different.. plus make sure anything that is agreed is in writing like a dealer reducing the AP, or an option you want, some do some don’t all depends on them really.

No decsion has to made on the spot, unless you happy to go ahead don’t feel pressured to commit.. Never let them know it’s the only one you want. even if it is.. also i guess it depends on your actual situation regarding needing a car or certain features or options..

Also remember that, until you enter your mobility PIN number you can walk away at any time from the deal.

Only enter your PIN after you have checked the vehicle on collection or delivery.

Am in the same boat. There’s nothing out there that I’ve found I really like (as yet) or ticks the boxes we need without having to make an AP, though maybe that’s me just being tight. Am currently driving a Privately bought 3008 which fits the purpose at The moment so reluctant to change until I find ‘the one’.

any advice on websites to search ?

have found all the tips of great benefit so far

the only place I’ve been able to see any info, is by going into each dealer and searching cars (pain in the arris!). So, thanks mate for the heads up. I’ll have a search for all the ferraris and range rovers now

                      Zoe

I was at mercedes yesterday and the motability guy was lovely, he was so informative and no pressure to buy either. Unfortunately the new GLA is not on the scheme yet and will be a few weeks but old one was there still. Unfortunately the boot was too small anyway so we couldn’t go for it. Don’t worry the team there is very knowledgeable about the process and will help you along the way. Even though we weren’t buying he informed us about applying for a grant for the up front cost as I had said they were a lot now and by the looks of things they are going to increase. So yes he was very helpful. As for I’d they have them in stock it’s usually around 2 weeks.

                              Charitable Grants
Motability is a national charity, founded in 1977, with the purpose of enhancing the lives of disabled people with transportation solutions. Our vision is that no disabled person shall be disadvantaged due to poor access to transportation.
One of the ways we do this is by offering a number of charitable grant programmes to support the independence of disabled people with their personal or other transportation needs.

Our support can mean that disabled people are able to carry out everyday activities which others may take for granted, such as commuting to work, getting to hospital appointments or enjoying days out with their family and friends.

Last year, we provided over 10,400 grants, worth nearly £34 million, to help disabled people and their families with the financial costs of their transportation needs.
