      Hi Everyone,

I’ve recently put in an order for the Nissan Ariya and had a phone call within a couple Of days from a company called Bumblebee asking what charger I would like installed – I was given a option of 3 chargers.

      1 – The WaEV-Charge

      2 – Zappi 2

      3 – Zappi GLO

i had a Quick Look and I think I have ruled out the WaEV as I think it only works off WIFI and didn’t want the issue if my wifi was ever down or not strong enough I would have issues charging my car, The other two seem to be a stronger option.

Does anybody have any experience with either charger?

I’m with BG for my electric and spoke to them yesterday as I’m having a upgrade on my smart meter but need to know are these 2 chargers compatible with BG and the Nissan Ariya – questions I need to probably ask bumblebee but I thought I would seek advice on here first.

I see a lot of people have the Ohme chargers but I have not been given this option so I’ve not looked in to them.

Thank you kindly for any advice.

Sorry – can’t help  – I’m with OVO and my charger is ohme.

But I am able to pre condition my car plugged in or not  – very useful for defrosting and cooling – I used to struggle to scrape the car in frost  – having to support myself on the car with one hand and scrape with the other  – now I just go tell it to defrost from my iPhone app and 15mins later it’s done.

So I would check out the extras between them!

When i placed my order with Motability…it was Ohme that supplied the wall charger.

I’m a British Gas customer i’m on the Electric Driver V11 tariff…it has worked perfectly with the Ohme App.

@slowdriver i would get in contact with Motability and ask them to get you an installer that will fit an Ohme charger.

The waEV EV1 has RFID, WiFi & Bluetooth, the EV1i isn’t available from Bumble Bee

Myenergi Zappi v2.1 updated in 2023 and replaced the older v2 and v1 models. The latest model has seen the addition of built-in WiFi and ethernet connectivity. Zappi V2 has 4g connectivity – So worth checking with Bumble Bee

Myenergi Zappi Glo is the newest charger and supports WiFi, Bluetooth, and local radio communication.

The Zappi 2 v2.1 would be the best, but check with Bumble Bee, it v2.1 and has ethernet, plus Zappi are better chargers than waEV. The installer will have to ensure there is suitable connectivity over wifi, which is typically what they try to connect to when installing.

Zappi are much better chargers than Ohme, which only have 4g connectivity and not solar compatable. OVO will no longer be supporting Ohme chargers either, which may see them loosing Octopus support in the future, meaning you will loose support of more intelligent tariffs if in the future you decided to switch to one 🙂

From communities outside of the Scheme Zappi chargers are well talked about throughout the EV community.

I would go for the latest Zappi on offer.  They’re very good and for free I’d be jumping at the chance.

I’d go for the Zappi it’s Octopus compatible if you ever want to join them too. They’re all compatible with all cars so don’t worry about that. They’re pretty much all have preconditioning etc for heating or cooling before leaving the house.

If you’re considering solar etc in the future tell the sales guy now as it may mean some changes now save money in the future.

We’re on our second EV now you won’t regret it they’re truly brilliant. I just filled up at a Tesla Supercharger near York for 37p/kwh from 20% to 98% for £22 in under an hour. Now I’m sitting in a fridge on wheels ready for the long drive home
