We’re considering private over the Motability offer, mainly due to the horrorstories in regards to BP Pulse and the fact that Motability doesn’t have flexibility in regards to the actual charger. You get what you get, which is either the BP Pulse thing, or (apparently) now an Ohme charger.

Admittedly, i don’t know much about the Ohme offer, so that might be decent – the BP Pulse thing isn’t. We’d rather go private than at some point reaching the day where we an issue arises that leaves us stranded/makes it necessary to charge public for potentially weeks.

It boils down to how important reliability etc is for you. There’s many, way better chargers out there than the BP Pulse, and we’re willing to pay for those. If the Ohme is decent (you’d need to do research, i personally haven’t looked into it), i don’t see an issue going with Motability in that case. You’d just need to make sure that you indeed get the Ohme offer.

We were in the same situation, in the end decided not to go with BP pulse and brought our own, especially after reading all the horror stories, even if it was free, Went with the Anderson 2, yes it is expensive but the colour matches the garage door and it does not look like a charger, the chap who installed it said we have had postmen putting letters in it. The delivery and installation was quick and without issue. all done within 4 weeks. if you can afford to buy your own then I would suggest you check them out, We also considered the Zappi from myenergi but decided to go with the Anderson for the reason above.

I’ve posted this a few times but with no interest from members, so for one last time, if you have off street parking you will not get the government grant from April 1st next year. So if any of you guys have off street parking and want to make use of the £350 grant you need to have your charger INSTALLED by 1st April next year or you won’t get it.

The only person who got all his work done by Friday was Robinson Crusoe.
Anything i post over three lines long please assume it is an article lol.

I will depend on what Motability are prepared to offer after that date?

The changes are in regards to private buyers.

So you know that it won’t affect motability Rene. That’s interesting as motability don’t know if it will affect them.

We we’re talking about private purchases we’re we not?

fwippers if the grant continues to be paid to motability then nothing will change for us but will the government continue to pay the grant together with the other VAT  advantages they give.

At the moment we do not know what motability will do after April. All we can do is speculate which does not advance the discussions.

So do Motability contact me re the charger or do i contact them?

If the rules are applied fully to motability they will be in a difficult position as those who do not have off street parking will continue to get the grant.

Not sure how they would police that.

My hypervolt charger is on order & once in stock Motability are funding it for me so there is that option if you press for it. Honestly BP pulse were such a nightmare & installer was going to come from Southend to North Norfolk which makes a mockery of being environmentally friendly too.

Local company installing it of my choice & charger of my choice. Now got to wait for my MP to boot our housing association who have now decided I can’t have a charger as they don’t have a policy which he’s furious about. So hopefully it’ll all be resolved soon its only been ongoing since May

well it seems they are now using ohme. interesting that motability sent me a online questionaire which says do i have permission of the housing association. so i have asked them the question, and awaiting their official reply although the girl reckoned she thought it should be ok as they are a green company.

They have just taken over our association so ive no experience of them yet.

I should think so. Blocking it should cause them issues with any future govt funding etc.

Well, a bit further forward. The ohme installers have phoned and informed me of my next moves, so ive ordered smart meters and an isolation switch from my provider(switch will cost half price as im getting the meters fitted so £60). then they come and fit a new fuse box and the unit.

progressing well so far; just waiting for the glitch. lol

i told her it was a motability car and they pay for it. her demenor changed quite a bit from super friendly to much less than that, which i thought was a fairly poor attitude. think its a different girl to last time, who was very nice.  not sure why the change of tone. it was quite obvious even if she didnt mean it to be.
