    As part of its plan to electrify its whole range by 2025, Citroen will offer the next C4 hatchback in fully electric form

    The forthcoming all-new Citroen C4, set to appear at some point in 2020, will be available as the first all-electric Citroen since the C-Zero. For Citroen, the electric C4 is just one step in a process of electrifying its whole range, which will be finished in 2025.

    Key to the electrification of the C4 is the fact that it’s moving over to the CMP platform which also forms the basis of the Vauxhall Corsa-e, Peugeot e-208, Peugeot e-2008 and DS 3 Crossback E-Tense small electric cars.

    Like those cars, an electric C4 will go on sale alongside conventional petrol and diesel-engined versions as soon as the new range is launched.

    The electric C4 is expected to have similar battery capacities and motor outputs as those models. We currently don’t know exactly what the new C4 will look like, but it’s said to be based on the CXPERIENCE concept seen at the 2016 Paris Motor Show (pictured).

    Although that was a larger car, we can expect to see some of its design features on the C4. Wide and low, it has a very distinctive front end, with very slim LED daytime running lights that also incorporate the indicators.

    Inside, meanwhile, the car has a very uncluttered look, with touchscreen controls, rather than physical buttons.
