Hi im new to the forum and value your opinion on the following issue.

We ordered a new mobility car in September (our 2nd car) I received a call from the dealer on wed of last week to say the car was in the country but no delivery date was available yet. I had a call yesterday afternoon to say can I collect today, I explained on the call last week that we were unavailable today and tomorrow due to work commitments. The dealer is applying pressure for me to collect on Friday as it needs to be registered as a 74 plate, I don’t know why? I have explained that again due to work commitments this isn’t possible and Monday would be the soonest. He has said it has to be Friday as he needs it registered?

He has now said all the money has to be paid by Friday?

Am I missing something? Does a car have to be transfered/registered within 3 days?

Can I say no without losing the car?

I’ve looked at the app and it says that I was due to collect today? This was never agreed.

Any helpful information would be appreciated

      Thanks

They ha e to give you a reasonable time frame ro collect the car, if it was registered on the 18th they should have contacted you before then. It’s not your fault they registered the car, they ahould have contacted you to make sure you could collect in February and if you couldn’t they should have held of registering it unti the 1st

        Spot on!

If it was me I would be spending time on autotrader and speaking with dealers, to see if they have stock or pipline stock you could put your name to, even if it means travelling out of your county and telling the current dealer you are cancelling out of principle they had the car on the 18th.

            Exactly what I did.

At the end of the day we don’t own these cars so it makes no difference financially to us, if it’s a 74 or a 25 plate, or at least not to me.

I picked up my car earlier this month and I have only ever had actual year plates since the new plates was introduced but that doesn’t matter. A new car is a new car…. So I get your sad about this, but really, it is what it is. The car is there, earlier than expected and that’s a good thing no…

If I was buying it then It would be a different story and have had that issue before only on an imported car it was a sold as a 52 plate but when they registered the car with DVLA it was a 51 as it was when the car was actually manufactured not 1st registered. So I got a sizeable discount on the car being one year older.

fortunately my anniversary is 28 may so i wont have this issue unless theres a huge wait for whatever i order. but i have to say p*ss poor service from your dealer. hope they sort it to your satisfaction.

Something similar happened to me, I was expecting the car to be delivered end of Feb, with a registration on 1st March, but got a call from the dealer saying it was here, and to come and check it out.

when I did so I noticed that the car had already been registered on a 74 plate, when I said it has come too early and I do not have the AP, he said how much short are you.

£500, so they dropped the AP by that amount.

might be worth a try, if you are paying any AP.

It’s still a brand new car and you’re not responsible for depreciation so what does it matter?

It is the behaviour of the dealer we are concerned with.
