Most tech without the big cheque

      Hello folks. I’m due to change in September so starting to browse through some broom brooms. Have the 3008 gt line auto. Hate the car, oh so dramatic, actually it’s a lovely car with just a few electric gremlins, but the seats, the seats, I hate, hate, hate them. They are the most uncomfortable seats I’ve ever set in.

      I share a problem with @oscarmax, as I’ve had a brain injury and just sometimes my brain gets overwhelmed with to much information so I know that some of you know a lot about the cars on the scheme so hoping you may help me create a shortlist.

      Basically I’m looking as much gadgets and gizmos and comfy seats as I can get for the lowest ap. after paying nearly 3k (I think) for the 3008 I honestly don’t ever want to pay anything like that again tbh, I think up to 1k is my max, for something special maybe 1.5k. I just think the aps are getting to high.

      Would also love leather, a panoramic roof, digital dash and I fancy a hybrid, considering my 3008 has been 28mpg and just recently 30mpg which I think is poor considering it’s lighter than my old V40 auto which give me about 38mpg.

      I’m not fussed how a car looks like outside, but it has to be appealing on the inside ie little to no cheap plastics etc. The 3008 has a lovely interior tbh but the digital Mercs are stunning and I have considered but trying to get my head around the prices, specs and packs just sends into a meltdown.

      At the minute I keep coming up with the Hyundai IONIQ se l with pano roof as an extra at around 900 ap (I think). Not to fussed on another suv although wouldn’t rule it out. Has to to 4 or 5 preferably 5 door, comfortable and quiet oh and I love lights, the more lights inside the better, yup I’m a big child.

      Would appreciate any pointers and guidance

        Well I’m sure someone will be along very shortly to suggest …………….. VW Tiguan R-Line Tech  😀

        Loads of tech, pano roof, adaptive cruise control, digital dash, Led headlights, heated seats, all round camera, remote boot opening/closing etc. etc.  And of course £600 off the already reasonable £1749 AP from JCT600 so a real bargain at £1149! (and yes, I’ve ordered one!) 😀

        Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!

          +1 on the Tiguan – I have one which currently has a massive 447 miles on the clock – only things missing from your list are the seats aren’t leather and the Hybrid – …

          Might also want to consider the Outlander PHEV – not as techy but the PHEV range could save you a small fortune depending on your driving habits… It may be a bit expensive day one, but the fuel savings could quickly offset that and then some…

          Unfortunately I don’t think there are any cars, at any price which tick all of the boxes so you’re probably going to have to narrow down the list of wants to fancy, want and need…

            Des – the answer could be the new Toyota Corolla GR Sport.

            It’s a 2.0l hybrid with 57-58 mpg in the real world. A quick 0-60 mph time of 7.9 seconds. It has all the bells and whistles – even a HUD, digital dash, the comfiest sports seats you’ll ever need – and all for £875 AP.

              Tiguan for sure, doesn’t make all of your list but if you keep your AP to less than £1,000 you are not getting all on your list anyway.

              Colin has one so he will know most of the tech by now.
              I test drove the manual and auto and both were good.

              I have leather seats in our Volvo XC60 but the Tiguan seats where pretty good so I had know problem with them.

              The ride was good the cabin is good the tech is great the sunroof lets lots of light into the cabin and best of all with discount and GCB it’s really really really cheap for what you get.

              If I were you I would go have a look ?, I don’t think you will be disappointed.

                Sorry folks should have said I’m in Northern Ireland so no deals on the Tiguan, best I can see is £1749. But yes it’s a cracker.

                @colin
                a PHEV is just no use to me tbh. I don’t use my drive as I park out the back of the house where an charging point can’t be placed, and this place is brutal for charging points anywhere else.

                @solent60
                that’s a nice motorcarybroombroom that. Will get a closer look.

                @brydo
                the IONIQ has all if not more of what I want for about 900 was just looking alternatives. Will definitely see if I can get any deals on the Tiguan.

                To all, I appreciate the replies but I should have made it easier as some one mentioned and just listed yeah, maybe, nah. Sooooo….

                Need automatic, comfy seats, 4 or 5 doors, active lane assist?

                Want panoramic roof, digital dash, leather seats, ambient lighting, ACC, auto dimming headlights/wipers, wireless phone charger.

                Would like park assist, electric handbrake, heated seats, hybrid, heated steering wheel, car not suv, android mirror/share fingy ma jingy, rover 214 sli in British racing green,

                sorry folks brain can’t think at the moment, but think I have it covered and think I’ve just spaced the IONIQ se l

                    If you want a lot of tech and kit at a small price, try the MG HS in Exclusive trim.

                    http://www.mg.co.uk/mg-hs/specifications/

                    It is well loaded kit wise for only £205/£999 AP’s for the Exclusive Auto. Even lower AP’s for the manual version.

                      I got my Ioniq Hybrid first edition four weeks ago and for the £99 I paid I am more than happy with the amount of tech available.

                          The Hyundai IONIQ SE is very good value @ £495 AP, I have had a look on their site cannot find a panoramic roof option, personally I have a good look at the Toyota Corolla Hybrids I think the model with Excel model which is well loaded and panoramic roof is AP £1445 and the less spec Design AP £995 with the 1.8 engine.

                          Personally I would go for 1.8 engine our neighbour has the estate version and recons he gets 65 + mph without trying, the 2 litre version is more powerful but to be honest how fast can you really go, plus it will not return the same fuel economy.

                          Again my preference would be the Excel over the Design with all the extra toys and definitely that lovely panoramic roof.

                          At one stage I did considered the Toyota RAV4 hybrid then the AP shot up and the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV AP dropped £2000 down to £1699. When I went into the Toyota dealer you will notice their customer focus is second to none, even though I struggle to verbal communicate nothing was a problem.

                          I did fall in love with the neighbours Corolla Hybrid estate in silver the boot is massive, if we did not tow a caravan we may have gone for it, but again Toyota’s AP shot up again.

                          I know how difficult it is to chose and work all this out. You can understand were I am coming from better than most. Just go and sit in a few cars you fancy, take a long test drive, it all about how a car make you feel. My money Toyota Excel Hybrid 1.8 with panoramic roof I bet you will love it.

                          Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally I get confused and often say the wrong thing.

                                @Mike “Front parking sensors” are in the same section as Rear parking sensors and Reversing camera. In the Driver Aids section.

                                You just missed it that’s all. Likewise, I couldn’t find the “One touch single tilting/sliding power sunroof” earlier.

                                      Tony I’d choice the Ioniq premium SE £495 with the electric sliding tilting sunroof £395 then it will have everything as well as the what car hybrid of the year 2019 ! If you see car wow review on you tube it does more mpg than the Niro even though has same gearbox and engine !

                                        Mike, that’s fair enough; but not for me – as I would struggle with getting a wheelchair in the back end.

                                        Nice to have a choice of interior colours though, rather than just black – which I couldn’t live with.

                                        Choices eh?!

                                                        What a day yesterday, my brain is frazzled tbh and forgot most of what I wanted to remember, but will try. Oh and some good mentions for different cars. Think I looked at all mentioned. Boucher road Belfast has every dealer going lol.

                                                        First was the IONIQ. Oh dear oh dear. Only set it for around ten minutes and found the seats uncomfortable. Also it’s not a pano roof just an ordinary sunroof, which is not really that big a deal but the seats are. Not ruled out.

                                                        Toyota corolla. To low, way to low and would be worried about a firm ride. It’s is a lovely looking car mind. Ruled out.

                                                        Kia Niro. Appears small and cramped inside tbh, particularly the boot. Not ruled out due to it being hybrid.

                                                        MG HS. Different hey, not a car I would have thought about. Pretty big and well equipped. Mind they didn’t have the trim level I wanted to see but gave me an idea of the car. Ruled out as I think the IONIQ is better value.

                                                        Tiguan. Pah I ain’t joining your tiggy club, simple as that. Only because I can’t as I’ve got my dates messed up and after phoning mobility to check as I thought i was due in early September as that’s when my insurance covers me up to yet mobility say November. Strange that. But when due and it’s still on the scheme, I will be getting one. What a wagon hey, best seats about by a mile.
