ajnFirst time car on order, My Wife and I clean licences.
My Daughter have got some points on her licence.
After hospital appointments advice is don’t drive for 12 hours, so when my Wife works, My Daughter drives me home on private policies, will motability still add her as a 3rd driver with points.
When we tried adding her at the dealer she wasn’t present and he tried as we had her licence, but said we would have to ring them at a later date.

ajnSpeed of 36Mph on 30mph road, possibly twice but think one was years ago so leaving 3 present. She’s age 25/26, driving since 17.
October 8, 2020 at 10:47 am #126320Hi ajn
Just to clear up something that’s very important, when you say “My Daughter drives me home on private policies” I assume you mean in her car and not your Motability car because if it is the latter there could be a problem.

Their first car is on order so it won’t be in a motability car.
Ajn
Provided she can get private insurance to drive then She should be fine.

ajnYeah sorry she got a car insured, ours got written off when shielding parked out side.
so we decided to order a new one on motability. So when needed she would be driving me home in the motibility car as her bmw is to low and a problem for me.

Haven’t got the car yet so asking as someone might have already done this.
Also if I have no knowledge of the question I choose not to answer, this is a forum for people unsure and to discuss, even maybe shine some light into unknown.
Obviously a phone call will need to be made but won’t be me doing it.October 8, 2020 at 3:29 pm #126368
garethWhen I asked motabilty insurance about my points, IN10 which is expired but doesn’t come off until next month they said NO , but for speeding i’m not too sure on their policy as i have SP30 on my record and they said it was fine.
October 8, 2020 at 4:08 pm #126375Ok Thanks for the replies I guess it’s a wait and see job, no massive one if they don’t.
October 8, 2020 at 4:37 pm #126378Certain points are OK but some more serious ones are not, and it’s a simple call to RSA to add but your daughter will need to be present.

ajnWow lots of rules and regulations, it gets rather daunting, I’m beginning to think is this for me…
My Wife and I are fine however my Daughter got 3points to date and some have lasped, she’s had a non fault fully admitted claim a few years ago, to be honest I’m passed the stage in life of sitting around pleasing others with a million questions.
October 9, 2020 at 9:14 am #126446Usually most insurance companies only start to get twitchy when someone has 6 points or more on their licence.

Don’t worry @ajn I have always found all my dealings with motability and rsa insurance to be simple with very friendly knowledgeable helpful staff.
It was a 5 minute phone call to add my son to mine and have others have said an sp30 endorsement shouldn’t be a problem,
Please be assured that motability is a really cost effective and stress free package for 99.9% of its users ?
