PaulAny ideas amongst the madness of prices, what you think is for the money, the best deal?
The Nissan Qashqai tekna+ (altho cvt box) only one that pops out.
The volvo b4p trims confusing me,why inscription pro and inscription same price, surely you pick the pro.To my eyes the same car trim shown twice too.
Ford kuga viganlle 2.5 (again cvt)but Qashqai passenger seat and pan roof just shade it.

ReneBoth the Kona Ultimate and the ID3 Max are great value for money. A lot of kit for (comparatively) little money.

GeorgieFord Puma Vignale (small SUV) is still ‘the one’ for me. Even though the price has gone up by £100, you still get a lot for £699AP – 153 hp, heated and ‘massage function’ full leather front seats, heated leather steering wheel, 24 speaker B&O sound system, privacy glass and a front parking sensor! All as standard.
I’m up for a new car later this Quarter and that’s the one I’m going for. The boot’s big enough for the wheelchair (manual), so it’s perfect for me.
October 1, 2021 at 2:08 pm #165571Seat Leon PHEV 200bhp, 0-62 mph in 7.5 seconds, and a claimed 40 mile electric only range (maybe 30 in real life) but can only accept charge at 3.6kW so from empty to full empty takes 3 hours 40 minutes – £Nil Advance Payment.
I’d still get the 165hp Abarth 595 manual at £295 AP for thrill per mile in fantasy Motability.

TimIt’s all looking a bit fantasy Motability with those AP’s on the EV’s.

MarkymateSkoda Kodiaq SE L 1.5TSi DSG at £3195. An absolutely fantastic large SUV. It came on the scheme on the 1st of January 2018 and this model was £2990, so it’s only gone up by £205 and is now out on a facelift model.
And yes, I do miss it!!
October 1, 2021 at 4:16 pm #165582The qashqai tenka+ is a lovely motor and drives well. the cvt box feels pretty much like a standard auto box and even has manual paddles etc. interior is up there with best of rest and fairly close to the luxury ones really. ive ordered one.
Its not particularly quick but its not meant to be. has decent grunt tho and a good boot/plenty space inside and lots of kit.
The Kona Ultimate is a better buy if your going electric. I may still have to change my selection of the nissan if my leg doesnt improve. as long distance driving will be out, and thats why i was spending big on the nissan

One quarter, 22 in number, EV’s are available without any advance payment.

IanI always wondered pound for pound (list price – AP) which car would be the best price ie based purely on numbers nothing else.
October 1, 2021 at 5:25 pm #165598
WarkmanYes. I looked at the Kodiaq in January, but there wasn’t one in the U.K. and lead time was 16 weeks minimum.
so, instead I went for an in the country Superb 1.5tsi DSG estate and I love it.
it’s quick, very quiet and I’m getting on a long run 42.8 mpg (active cylinder deactivation) with led adaptive light system, heated leather seats wireless apple car play and wireless android auto.
really great car.
October 1, 2021 at 5:34 pm #165601Agree that the Superb is an excellent vehicle – I’ve had two of them and loved every mile. But the APs are nasty. The PHEV costs nearly £6k up front. Last Superb I had was ordered fours years ago. It was a 2.0L petrol with some 230bhp. So more-or-less same power-to-weight as the PHEV. If I remember correctly, the AP was about £2k!

John MorrisI can’t believe some of the APs. We paid £900 on March 8th this year for our new shape Ateca 1.5tsi FR Sport DSG. Its now over £3000!! Unbelievable even with the obvious semiconductor shortage.
