IanfcaThey will be cameras with pictures appearing on screens on the dashboard
October 4, 2020 at 6:02 pm #125965They’re camera pods/ indicator stalks etc.
They say it cuts wind noise but I’d still prefer a normal mirrorOctober 4, 2020 at 6:04 pm #125966
ajnAmazing then..

DazzleAs a ex HGV driver I’d like to point out how terrible these options are
they get dazzled if car following has LED lights for a start
in rain forget them and if frosty you need to keep car moving before they fog
stupid invention honestly
anyone with a reversing camera has had those days imagine on wing mirrors
October 4, 2020 at 6:45 pm #125970Pure stupid imo. I deffo would not trust technology like this.. what are they thinking.
October 4, 2020 at 7:05 pm #125973
ajnYep things are so advanced these days, almost beyond belief…
October 4, 2020 at 8:30 pm #125980These days with radar technology the car can sense objects way before we can see it.
The trouble is in narrow suburban roads it’s more likely to think a wheelie bin is a child and slam the brakes on.The car above just looks odd to have such streamline wing mirrors on such a big unstreemline vehicle.
Looks like they’ve robbed them from another car.October 5, 2020 at 7:35 am #126007
DazzleAnyone with parking sensors will immediately chuckle at that idea Phil
the only thing more insensitive than those sensors maybe tyre sensors lol
October 5, 2020 at 8:02 am #126008
ajnI wonder how long before they appear on all cars, it seems any new idea gets quickly copied.
I can remember saying when we had dial up home internet set up “THIS WON’T CATCH ON” lol, sitting here waiting for a connection…
How wrong I was just needed progression, well here I am as proof ???
October 5, 2020 at 9:28 am #126015Gone are the days of sticking a £5 replacement mirror on top of the smash one then. I shudder to think the replacement cost of one of these. They are already on the Honda E.
October 5, 2020 at 9:31 am #126017@wmc, was thinking exactly the same and another reason why insurance groups are going up so much.
October 5, 2020 at 9:43 am #126019
ajnTrue bet it’s a fortune then maybe need configuring into the system..

Absolutely agree. Almost as daft as the auto dim wing mirrors.
I’ve had a few cars with this function and they’re downright dangerous. The view goes so dark all you can see are dots of other headlights and it’s impossible to judge distance.? I will be remembered for nothing but had great fun doing it ?
October 5, 2020 at 5:13 pm #126060I can’t think of much more they can add to cars anymore, however time will tell..
October 5, 2020 at 5:40 pm #126062
DazzleThis idea isn’t new
as I’ve said HGVs had them a few years now
same as ad blue was first trialed
mirrors can’t be beaten
get your camera phone out and put it at LED lights and wait for the epileptic fit to kick in lol
most rear cameras have air or water to clean them
we today rely on blind spot cameras etc when what’s wrong with an old fashioned shoulder check?
i enjoy toys, wouldn’t have a car without cruise control or even heated mirrors that fold in bit tech is meant to be a aidcold or foggy heavy rain etc your driving with no mirrors lol
October 5, 2020 at 5:51 pm #126063
ajnNew to me and I haven’t seen them on any other car (not hgv) at any time.
Interesting point about foul weather.

Dont worry we might be disabled but I am sure we can mcguiver up a cheap mirror with some gaffa tape 😛
