I parked next to a MG 4 max power this morning and a chat to the guy, looked so much better with the bigger wheels. The guy as owned it for a few months and he still can’t get used to how fast it is.
Shame it’s not on the scheme.

May 9, 2024 at 9:08 pm #277170Is it just me that thinks the wheels still look too small on these?

May 10, 2024 at 11:49 am #277220I think the wheels looked pretty good especially with the massive disc’s brakes.
May 11, 2024 at 10:57 am #277312I am wondering some EV’s are as fast as a supercar now and in inexperienced hands or lack of concentration how many will be in accidents as my Peugeot Hybrid has a 0.60 in only 8.1 secs which is as fast as the old Peugeot 205 GTI and a Suzuki Swift GTI i had in the 80s and early 90s and my Car even you can still get into trouble with with its rapid Acceleration in sports mode that is.

That’s probably the reason it’s not on the scheme, us disabled old farts brains can’t work that fast 😳
May 11, 2024 at 1:10 pm #277334The point I make is not that Tesla is not on the scheme is that the charging network should be at one like Tesla and not have the stupid ridiculous charging that is on offer now it should be easy like I have said just plug and play all it would have to is for Manufacturers to get there act together and put the chip in the cars like Tesla it would then be so easy. It I think is not Rocket Science to have done this and really as I said Tesla has done this and this is why I would at this time opt for a self charging Hybrid until the network is up to equal disability friendly service as I do not have a mobile phone nor want one, my car already has SOS for breakdowns so that is all I want and there are many like me who do not want Apps or the inconvenience of this stress.
May 11, 2024 at 2:39 pm #277342As I understand it all new charges are now contactless, which is what I use when I do charge away from home. Luckily my car allows me to set my satnav to contactless charging.
May 11, 2024 at 3:34 pm #277345Tesla is one manufacturer with its own set of chargers. Outside of Tesla there are the big 6 charging suppler’s in the UK, which would mean non Tesla manufacturers having chip capable of communicating with big 6 charging supplers in the UK alone. This would ultimately add unecessary cost the vehicle price, given around 94% of the UK population have mobile phones.
From Spring 2020 all faster chargepoints had to provide contactless payment.
May 12, 2024 at 9:51 am #277370But do you not need a mobile phone to pay and with all the different chargers some charging 80p or more kwatt that is expensive this is what I mean if Tesla can do it the chepo Chinese and other makes can do it and with safety they all have to comply. You see it may be simple to some but Tesla has it all sorted and unless you charge from home it is like the wild west out there.
May 12, 2024 at 10:40 am #277371Monthly subscriptions with the likes of Ionity, Shell and electric juice allow you to use a RFID card. Electroverse allows remote charge via an app but you need a phone for this.
May 12, 2024 at 11:00 am #277372Quite a few manufacturers now offering plug and charge and/or autocharge (similar idea to Tesla) simplifying the charging process even more
May 12, 2024 at 2:46 pm #277381The new ID4 and 5 have this. Used it twice already. Super easy
May 12, 2024 at 3:10 pm #277384I’m sure a lot of EVs can do that now I saw an Enyaq test drive where the charger just dispensed. There are times when you might not want that like better deals via Bonnet type companies, Electroverse and so on.
EV power is why even the cheapest come with all the vast arrays of safety equipment.
To be honest it’s all relative. My first car Renault 11 TXE Electronic had a 1.7 litre petrol engine with dual throat weber carb and went like stink, for the time not bad for an 18 year old. Anyway point being it’s easy to get into trouble with anything given enough ignorance a 1 litre panda can do looney stuff given the bicycle tyres it runs on.
Imho I guess the huge wright of EVs helps glue them to the floor more than a petrol equiv despite the crazy power available?
