Further to this issue mercedes connect say they don’t know how to fix problem, it only seems to be an issue between mercedes & 02 network and those that piggyback on 02 like tesco mobile. After 3 months of trying to get app functioning as it did for first year of car ive given up ,no longer use the app.

This is how stupid mercedes connect  are , another  email from them today ,in their own words ( dear Mr  ,? we can see you have not drive the vehicle ,please drive the vehicle ,see if app problem still their .)

They have already said its an 02 network problem with mercedes  the car has done 2800 miles , so what does that stupid email mean. They do not know what they are doing ,I’ve given up with them.

I guarantee you that they didn’t say “we don’t know how to fix it”. 100%. And to suggest that they don’t know what they’re doing when the App works (mostly) fine with every single network except one should tell you where the problem lies.

There’s a simple fix to this. Incidentally a fix that O2 had to come up with. You need to use a VPN, that’s it. Works 100% all the time on iOS and Android phones. The likeliest culprit is O2 blocking ports that the app requires to run. A VPN gets around that – O2 forums are full of people who confirm this, and the App works for them once they activated the VPN.

You can argue that you can’t be bothered to workaround the problem, but the fact of the matter is that it’s not Mercedes screwing up, but O2.

I used the app for the first year but realised that all the really useful features had to be paid for. The limited functionality of the basic package all worked fine though but eventually I decided it wasn’t adding any value to my experience and uninstalled it.

Can’t honestly say I’ve ever missed it.

If I seem a little strange, that's because I am.
