Megan E TEC …..Ohme or Easee?

Hi I am trying to find out if the Megan E Tec works the same or better with either the Ohme or Easee charger

Just asking as Motorbility automatically assigned Easee as the installer to be.

Heard on another site which may be incorrect that the Easee is not fully compatable with tje Megan E Tec

Can anyone throw some further light on this?

      Cheers much appreciated

        I watcched a YT’er on this problem.

His megane couldnt overnight charge with the charger he called ‘Zappy’, but it worked OK on his older Ohmie charger.

Its not the Charger, it is the Megane, and a known problem with Renault. Other people has had the same problem since January and Renault are slow in updating the Megane.

easee is a great charger, but the Ohnie is compatible with all smart tarrifs including ovo, the renault is compatible though and it does not matter what charger you have. But I would go with the Ohnnie as if you went with ovos plan you would always be stuck choosing a compatible car

I found the article about the Megane requiring an update.

The Ohme charger can work with solar panels which cuts the cost further, i’m not sure the other charger has this function.

The solar panel function is currently under trial by Ohme and it takes a bit of chasing MB and Ohme to be supported on the trial

I have the Ohme charger fitted and it is very easy to use through the supplied app or from the interface on the charger.

                  Hey there, Neil.

May I ask — who did you have to chase to get on that trial ? I have an installation in two weeks and have solar panels btu don’t know anything about it ?

                  Thanks,

                  N

Hi MB are the first point of call to request for the Ohme charger to be fitted, then contact Ohme to let them know you wish to use your solar in con junction with the charger.

It involves using updated software with the charger allowing solar options which I believe is not used on normal charger operation.
