I hope so, politicians need to be held accountable for what they say.

December 22, 2019 at 3:26 pm #101042No doubt, one or two posters will complain, but that’s ok – this is just another start-
“The Government has launched a new £40m programme across England and Wales to support 10,000 disabled people into work.
The announcement comes as Boris Johnson faces calls to roll out a domestic agenda that will visibly improve the lives of voters who lent their support to the Conservatives for the general election, in order to show that his Government can offer more to them than simply delivering Brexit and locking Jeremy Corbyn out of Downing Street.
The new Intensive Personalised Employment Support programme will help disabled people improve their lives through 21 months’ of tailored support, which will include coaching, confidence building activities and even arranged therapy sessions ………………….”
December 22, 2019 at 5:53 pm #101064Old news Mike 700. This was first released in December 2018, when Amber Rudd was Secretary of State for Work and Pensions.
Though with all the BR crap it got lost until now.
I think the government first need to convince the employers. To me there is work that is meaningful to the disabled and really benefits them. Then of course there is the other type of work! That is to say work for the sake of work. Look at the past various government schemes of this nature. The government do not have a good track record.

Nothing would give me greater pleasure to be posting here in five years time admitting I was wrong.

December 22, 2019 at 10:31 pm #101090In due course the performance of this government can be evaluated using differing methods and, of course, the public shall pass it’s own judgement at the ballot box and many will be looking at core issues whilst others will be focussing their attentions on other concerns.

Cynics will complain, whereas supporters of ‘any help is welcome ‘ will cheer, and I accept that it will quite likely follow party lines?
I don’t support Boris or the Tories per se, but in all conscience I cannot (not under any circumstances ) support Labour, and I believe that ‘our’ government should now be given the chance to prove itself , and we as a country, should stop sniping at every opportunity, and shooting ourselves in the PR foot .
As I said ‘ it’s a start’, it’s not the finish!
