Motability need replacing with something else.  I’d say I’m relatively new to the scheme first car 2009 and be it me dropping into the scheme at a good point or not.  The quality of cars vs the prices we pay are not great.  First car volvo v70 redesign SE.  AP £1800.  Last car Honda Civic sport plus AP 2599.  We’ve also seen choice cut AP swings all over the place.  When I joined you have lots of choice if you had the money for the AP then Ap was capped at £2k now that’s gone up to £3.75k. Now we are seeing AP up at £5-£9k for PHEVs . I’m no professors or intellect but a tin of beans cost 50p in 2009 they still cost 50p.

I have been disgruntled with motability for a while now.  This is the mail in my coffin when my lease expires I’m out and my £262 will go well towards my new skoda Octavia vRS 245ps initial rental £2795.  36 monthly payments £295.  Annual mileage allowance 8000.  Sure I have to insure and tax for 3 yrs and the miles are less but I don’t do 20k a year so that’s wasted on me.  And I might have to pay for 2 front tires but at least I get to choose what I lease and I think that is important

i think a few other low mileage customers may do the same, there are some deals out there. but its the piece of mind that mota gives is a big thing for many.also many cant afford to insure etc themselves.

its horses for courses and you have free choice.

at the end of the day the scheme is there to help people get/remain mobile when they may not be in a position to do so through finance or lease. and there are plenty of octavias on the scheme.

its there to get you in a car suitable for your needs not put you in a particular badge or sporty go faster ego trip. i dont see a problem with limits being in place i would prefer that some were a little higher to allow more spacious vehicles on the scheme but not necessarily bhp for the boy racers.

Don’t forget, your road tax is free.

Plenty of low or £0 APs. No one says you have to have a posh marque.

Different strokes for different folks but those of us who need adaptations to drive a car, really cant use a regular lease and if we could the adaptations will run into the thousands so count your blessing you have the choice to that.

The aps are still reasonable and if someone wants a to lease a nil ap car then they can.

Also if you want to spend your money elswhere you are able to but dont say there isnt enough choice as the majority of people in the uk cant even get a lease due to bad credit etc and the majority of disabled people leasing also wouldnt qualify to do so.
