Letting lease lapse

What happens if you let the lease lapse, not an early cancellation, we are thinking of having a long break, of say 4 weeks and it coincides with the car lease finishing. I am thinking let it lapse, return car, pick up choosing a new one, as it strides a new quarter, when we return. Is it possible?

Can’t see an issue with a short break, but equally you could lose any transitional protectection you may be entitled to, if ever you were to lose PIP and classed as a new customer.

On the otherhand 6 week extension on your current car or placing an order close to renewal date and cancelling if something better comes along may sound a better idea.

If you see a car you like at a price you like, order it, don’t wait for the next quarter. Vehicles have a nasty habit of being dropped from the scheme or the AP going up.

But if you need the money for the AP, why not have a break for a couple or three months?

You can extend the lease.  To let it laps without notifying Motability is a bad idea I think,  as you need insurance to be extended.

I would tell motobility that we are returning the car, the lease expires on sept 22nd, but i am guessing that means we lose good condition payment. what I am not sure about, if you have to wait 6 months before you can rejoin the scheme, the car has been extended and the 2 year extension expires. It was just to bridge the quarter change. Not that much happens any, but like the look of the new kia, and hyundai.

                Do i understand this correctly?

You want to go on holidays, your lease runs out in the middle of the holidays, so your intention is to keep the car at the house until you return from your holiday?

is it something new – if you don’t return on time you lose good condition bonus?
