      Folks,

Due to chance early April having been delayed 6 months due to COVID-19.  The car is for my daughter, & her mobility issues mean a high car is a must.  In addition, as the driver I’m 6 Ft 6, 18 stone with legs akimbo.  Our recent car history reflects this combination – Citroen C4 Grande Picasso, Qasquai +2, Seat Alhambra.

I find the trend in modern large SUVs to have the central cockpit console style uncomfortable.  Said akimbo legs means my knee grates against these, making driving uncomfortable.  For example, I was really keen to try the X-Trail so hired one for a work trip last year, & didn’t find it much fun.

I’d be interested in your collective views on your experiences.  Deposit wise (work bonus pending…) I want to go around £1500, but could go to £2000 if the wife allows me.

      My thoughts:

VW Tiguan – driven several times hired in Germany over last couple of years.  OK for me, but worry about space behind me (have a 4th giant 17 year old to think about).

VW Tiguan Allspace / Skoda Kodiaq / Seat Tarraco – have seen a Tarraco having tapped up a guy we parked next to recently – wasn’t keen on what I saw.

MG – like to look of them, but reading poor experiences with them on here.

I could go ‘me-too’ & go for the VW Sharan quite cost-effectively…better the devil you know.  Spoke to VW Wolverhampton recently & both the Sharan & Tiguan would be on 8 week lead times.

If bonus is poor (unlikely fortunately), we might be downsizing to something Karoq sized & priced.

Any others to consider?  Not a Peugeot fan!

VW Tiguan with a panoramic roof might work well for you.

Third vote for the Tiguan, Pablo. But would you consider the Touran?

              Hi Pablo,

my choice would be, stick with what you know and go for Sharan whilst they’re

              still available.

              Regards, wonky

                  Hi wonky

The vw sharan is a good size car, but I ordered mine august car has not moved through production at all still stuck at stage 2, I contacted my dealer no contact back, so I contacted vw customer services who say my car will be built in 2021, didn’t even estimate month just said 2021.
