Decided to go for it yesterday and order my new car.

Have been looking at the 2 series Gran Coupe for a while.

Didn’t want to risk the price going up in Q3 so went yesterday and ordered.

Went for M Sport, 218i in Snapper Rocks Blue, looking like receiving end of September. If I could have taken a manual I could of had in the next few weeks as they had one on the forecourt from a cancelled order.

Great choice of car, which interior did you go for?

Black dakota leather Jan, didn’t fancy red and figured oyster would show marks so played it safe.

I went for Oyster, but I know what you mean. The red would look weird.

Exactly, I am sure some people like the red but in all it’s personal preference. Didn’t bother trying to get any discounts or extras thrown in as feel the car is everything I need/want anyway. When are you getting your car?

I was a bit naughty and placed a deposit for a factory slot. Not due to pick up until January.

Hi Jan. Can I ask you how you did this? I am due October and was told that they would not allow an order before 3 months before renewal date(mid July)

The dealer was most amenable, placed a refundable small deposit which is to be taken off the AP.

Hi Jan , Sorry to butt in , By doing that do you guarantee the current AP of that model .Many Thank’s

Hi, I wouldn’t think so. I toyed with trying to pay deposit on Gran coupe but was told on forum and by motability can’t place an order until you are in last 3 months of lease. Someone bending rules. Not happening my end sadly

Hi Mrs Kipling ,We also looked at the same model , likewise not due to change until Oct , would also be willing to pay deposit if I could secure the current AP

Was told not possible as too far ahead. Would imagine dealer has taken deposit but no guarantees on price.
On reading other posts from Jan,it would seem the AP isn’t guaranteed.

just wish they would publish prices.

That’s why I ordered as don’t expect the AP to go down can only see it going up if not the same. I am due to change however.

<p style=”text-align: left;”>The AP isn’t guaranteed, but I could try and push it if the prices go up. If not, I’ll cancel and look at another model…. which would be a shame.</p>

I can only see the AP of the GC going one way and that’s not down.

So what happens if mb take the 2gc off the list then? Dealer left with a car and you without .

a dealer doesnt get stuck with it as they only agree if its a car they can easily shift, it helps them hit there targets and fill there build slots with the manufactures to maintain the discounts.

I’m not sure but i think they can put it on the system before it’s removed or the manufacturer stops making a certain trim level you want. If Mb agree.. As thats what honda dealer suggested if i wanted a sport plus not just the sport version.

Also the vw guy as had a golf had put a tiguain sel on the system even though i hadn’t agreed to order one but was considering it as an option.

That’s great, I jumped in today and ordered the X1 as by all accounts the prices are to rise quite a bit and I panicked as normally it would be out of my range. They didn’t have an offer on and most I seen said it had to be registered by today to qualify for the discount. I did manage to get 10% off the extras that I needed and would probably have tried for the mobility grant to help with the advanced payment but didn’t want to risk the price increasing. Lead time is currently September so have time to find the AP.

Thats really handy to know as last time I ordered a car, I asked motability about a grant and they told me that I couldn’t apply as Id already ordered the car. I have noticed of late that each time I speak with them about something, I get a different answer depending on who answers the phone.

officially Gordon thats true, as the grants team asses what they deem as a suitable vehicle that meets your needs, buts its on an individual bases and if the vehicle ordered is deemed suitable then in “some” cases they will still help.

Thanks JS, thats so good to know. I did think that they were being rather too keen to prevent me from speaking to the grants people. I’ll remember that if it happens again. I did try once for help with a 4×4 option as I live in the cairngorms and winter is a nightmare and I was told that I should just not use the car if it snowed! Snow could be on the ground for at least 3 months!
