If that Cupra UrbanRebel goes into production looking just like that… and Motability get with the times & allow Cupra to join the scheme – I would jump at the chance to own such a machine in the blink of an eye!

June 9, 2022 at 5:43 am #187882They all look interesting. I don’t know who comes up with the names for the cupra models but I think they’re terrible.
starting with the Cupra Formentor which is already out and in my opinion the worst name I can think of for a modern car. It’s such a mouthful.
Tavascan sounds like some sort of over the counter drug
UrbanRebel sounds more like a trim level than an actual model. When I say it out loud my mind keeps going to the Rover Streetwise for some reason.
Terramar – nothing to say on that at the moment.
The name alone wouldn’t put me off getting one though. Watched a review of the Born on YouTube the other day and I thought it looked pretty cool. I’d like to think all of these new models will be even better
June 9, 2022 at 7:41 am #187886What’s in a car name
Formentor : Cap de Formentor is the northernmost point of Majorca, on the Formentor peninsula.
Tavascan : Tavascan is a village located in the province of Lleida in Catalonia, Spain. The village lies in a valley approximately 8 kilometres from the French border and 16 kilometres from the Andorran border. Tavascan is situated on a slope 1122 metres above sea level.
UrbanRebel : ????
Terramar : Terramar, Carlsbad, California
Terramar is located in Carlsbad, California. It is a small oceanfront neighborhood community developed by William Cannon in the 1950s. It has its own Association called the Terramar Association, with a set of rules. The Terramar Association has a quarterly newsletter called the Terramar Tides. Terramar has a number of breaks, but is primarily known as a longboard break.Joss

June 9, 2022 at 12:16 pm #187918Don’t you mean the UrbanoRebelde, Translated in Scotland to Banal Baldie – hmmm, perhaps not the demographic they were hoping for.
How many of us discounted getting the Grandland as everyone would shout Grandad at you as you drove along?
In life, it's not who you know that's important, it's how your wife found out.
June 9, 2022 at 12:23 pm #187920I always liked the fact that Seat name their cars after Spanish Towns and Cities. Cupra are following this tradition it seems. IKEA do a similar thing with their products, although not all are happy:

ReneNot having that big an opinion on Cupra one way or another (we tested both Born and Formentor – the Born was great, the Formentor was awful in terms of build quality, such a cheap and nasty interior with tinny doors), i do think that the UrbanRebel, despite the kinda dumb name, could be a gamechanger.
£20.ooo for 280 miles range and 225bhp, that sounds pretty good to me. Yes, it’s not gonna be a people carrier, but not everyone needs one. The lower powered versions (e-Mii, e-UP) will be around £17.ooo, that’s an entry level petrol fiesta. For commuting or living in city centres, the size of the Mii is plenty. Only concern is, well, the price, actually. At £17.ooo for an EV, there can’t be much money spent on interior quality/haptic. Much like with the Formentor i suppose.

gillanThanks Joss. I love it too!
June 10, 2022 at 9:40 am #187969the urbanrebel and the toyota aygo x are 2 i will look at if they come on the scheme but i will have to have a sit in and test drive but if the driving position is high enough for me to get in and out ok the will be good options and hopefully the ap not too bad.
something smallish with a decent high seat ideally 3 door would be great for me the back seats are irrelevant in fact would most probably spend most of the time flat to increase load space.
there seem to be some nice designs coming on line lets hope it continues and that they make it on to the scheme.
